Chiefs vs Blues 2022

Conditions look really good for Saturday - you'd think it should be a good crowd as a Saturday game and some big names playing for both sides.
Excellent to see Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens get a start in a big game like this - it must be remembered he's still only 20 years old.

Two strong sides, really looking forward to this. Could be a defining game for either side.
-
Tele'a probably a bit lucky to stay on the bench.

going to be a cracker I reckon, can't wait

@nzzp I think the quality seems to be slowly improving too.
I think the disruptions from covid over this season and even last year, NPC in particular has taken its toll, but hopefully with that all but behind us now....

Big couple of games for Robinson. I know he's had some niggles this year but his output is way down on his normal standards. Then there's his brain farts in the last Chiefs game
Needs to show something before the return of Ioane, plus Plumtree has been in better form. Hopefully MacDonald has put the pressure on him

@crucial eh?
Unavailable for selection:
Reuben O’Neill, Gideon Wrampling, Simon Parker, Xavier Roe, Brodie Retallick, Josh Ioane, Sione Mafileo, Laghlan McWhannell, Tupou Vaa’ibadly written by me
I meant that I would prefer that some of the unavailable were playing

With those team listings I would say that the 'on paper' favourite is the Blues.

not in a derby game in the Tron. OUr record there is woeful. You don't get to claim underdog status that easily, not after you shoulda won last time eh

It's weird as I naturally think the Blues should be favourites but the home game factor does help us. Is this the first leg of home and away between these two this season?
I hope it's a decent game and the Waikato get up

Some info about the absence of Vaa'i and Mafileo.
With Brodie Retallick already sidelined with a broken thumb, Laghlan McWhannell exited the Hurricanes game early with a concussion, while Tupou Vaa’i was not considered despite bouncing back well under the 10-day mandatory stand-down after picking up a head knock in the final training before that game – a session where prop Sione Mafileo also picked up a back injury.

No the Blues beat the Chiefs in the first clash between these two at Eden Park (with crowd restrictions there was only 1,000 odd fans allowed). The Bryn Gatland missed kick game.

As much as I wanted to see Evans at 12, I can understand the patient approach. He's just played twice last week including his first ever start, he's only 20 years old and only played 2 games of NPC. There's two tough away derbies coming up for Blues - it's probably a good time to spell him and bring him back for the games vs the Aussie teams.

I can understand going for the Nock and shitty Riccitelli on the bench too. I'll be disappointed if they aren't getting passed by Funaki and Vikena in the second half of the season though
