It wasn't fake. This was the most important night in Will Smith's career. Now all people are talking about is his violence.
That is a good point……but the whole set up still seems a bit “staged” to me overall. The way Rock composed himself and kept talking ( then again, he could be an absolute pro ) indicates it was set up.
Maybe the truth will come out at some stage.

@mn5 see, i didn;t think he was composed at all, looked off to the side several times, stumbled over the next award etc, the slap is the only thing that looked fake but that could just have been down to smith pulling it last second, wanting to make the point but not actually hurt him...dont know

Relatively composed……not exactly shaking……pointing out that it was a joke and still chatting away.

i think i used the term, "completely flustered" ...chatting only to explain the joke away...like you would when someone has completely over reacted to it

There’s likely way more to it than you or I know.
I’m basically not judging the guy on this one act. There’s no known propensity for violence.
Something went wrong in his head and I have no idea what.The only guess I have is that not only was he thinking about Richard Williams at the time and falling into character when he realised his wife was insulted while he was sitting with her and the kids. A ”what would Richard Williams do?” moment perhaps?

Short attention spans. People are bored of the one conflict they momentarily could be bothered to feel enough empathy to virtual signal about. All those ones in Africa don't count. None of those black people are famous and could remotely assist in the real war; political partisanship.
