So crowds back for this weekend?

yeah, just saw someone tweet that, fingers crossed

Hopefully the Canes celebrate Heritage week with this jersey from one of the GOATS.

i was going to say i doubt we can expect them to do anything like special jerseys, too late in the week.....but that actually sounds about right for how NZR does these things, no spectacle around it, no one will have a clue until they run out on the field...and then someone will suggest they should have been available to buy

League have always been better at self promotion than rugby. Rugby have always relied on their on field product being better. They don't give a crap about the supporting entertainment

and the AFL even more so, every other week there is a some sort of big clash, ANZAC game, the "showdown", PRIDE game, Heritage round, Indigenous round. even small things like the Swans have said theyre going to wear the old South melbourne kit (red V) for all games in Melbourne.....stuff you can ignore if its not your bag but get behind if you like a bit more of the speciale

It's as if the NZRFU don't realise it's not just sport, it's entertainment

@canefan and back in the day it was i guess, individual Unions coming together for games and the AB's we're a pure representative team

But not anymore, NZR want all the control and the money that comes with it...but without providing anything else

@stargazer both of those teams would absolutely murder their current counterparts.

That's funny, I was coming to post that and ask how many current players would be selected in a combined team.

I'd probably take Paps at 7 for the Blues, and Smith at 9 for the Landers.

even the 1998 versions of Dowd, Brown, Brooke and Jones are leaps better than right now.

    2 - Eklund over Roose
    7 - Papalii over Carter
8 - Akira Ioane over Rush
9 - is a toss up, but Christie would be better in a big game, as Tonu'u was prone to errors (see 2018 final!)
13 - Clarke was very underrated (especially by Hart), but Rieko Ioane probably takes that one

Agree with the rest, but I'd move Clarke to 12. Clarke & Ioane midfield

i wanted to say Christie but i stopped myself as i acknowledged my bias against Tonu'u as i never thought he was any good.

Kind of amazing that Hart ignored Tony Marsh and Eroni Clarke, but went for guys like Mark Ranby, Mark Mayerhofler (so bad!), and moved Cullen into centre.

Prior to coaching the ABs in 1996, he published an autobiography that stated that he thought an AB coach should only be there for two year periods. He was right about himself!

Ranby was not an All Black under Hart, I think he went on a NZ Baabaas tour though?
