Witg the greatest respect to the Australian team ,
Some of shots the Kiwi team were playing looked like something you would see watching social cricket down at your local park ..
Is this more of an indightment on the local game ..? -

Is this more of an indightment on the local game ..?Absolutely. Huge difference between the two countries with one being well paid full time professionals (players and staff) the other cobbled together with players that stand out among poor competition

like the rugby - professionalism trumps attitude

Absolute shocker, lack of concentration & focus really cost NZ - we bowled well until the last 10 overs, then fed the Aussies too much loose bowling where they scored over 100 runs in that period, the batting was atrocious... need to have a big change of mindset if they're going to have any chance of making the top 4.

England plays SA later this afternoon. An important match.
Surprisingly (to me anyway), SA is actually 2nd in the ODI rankings. They seem to have struggled to put Bangladesh and Pakistan away. England will be in a deep hole if they lose again.
Rankings:
Aust
SA
England
India
NZ
Windies
Bangladesh
Pakistan -
Those rankings look about right to me, though home advantage should still be enough to elevate the White Ferns a place or two in this tournament. From the very little I've seen of South Africa over the last couple of years, they seem capable of rising or falling to about the level of their opposition. They looked very nervous in the field those last few overs against Pakistan...

Over at Seddon Park, Sidra Amin's 104 looks like being in a losing cause as she's the ninth wicket to fall with Pakistan still needing 20 off 13 against Bangladesh.
Pakistan went from 183/2 to 187/7 in the space of two overs.
Update: Bangladesh win a World Cup game for the first time by nine runs.

@kiwipie Very similar format to the 1992 CWC format, which was probably my favourite.
I think we're probably best off if India beats England to probably send them home and we end up with a dogfight vs the Windies, where we should have the better NRR, but they'll have a somewhat easier finish.

I agree, good format. Simple.
Not pools, with super pools, where you carry some points over, but only against other teams that came through, so the weird incentives are ... weird.
The last over brain explosion vs WI and our capitulation against Aus mean we're up against it. Ideally win it all from here, but it looks like we may get through with one more narrow loss.
