His father is an ex-Northland player.
It just means that some of these new players have been selected for the Hurricanes U20s wider squad already.
Yeah, I didn't read it properly and thought it was Hurricanes Schools.

@number-10 Just imagine what the profit would have been had they been allowed to have proper crowds for the Shield Defences. I guess the gate would have been conservatively affected by at least five or six thousand for each one with the Covid-19 restricted attendances. Our marketing/sponsorship people must be doing a fabulous job to get us to that level (although the annual distribution from the NZRFU must also help) however they sure don't spend much of it on social medial/website news, team naming releases etc!
-
I was hoping for one against King Country so the Meads Tremain Trophy could be at contested again. Come to think of it why don't we give heaps more challenges to Heartland Unions in the early season to pad our Shield record out a bit more and to move further clearer from Waikato as the third most successful Union?

HBRU AGM last night.
All over in 40 minutes.
Profit of $137,000 for 2021. Reserves now over $2.5 million.
Patron and 2 Board members re-elected unopposed.
The new HQ in Orotu Drive is now mortgage free. Two more RDO's appointed.
RDO?
Maybe I am too deep in my works new payroll system implementation, but the only thing I can think of is Rostered Day Off...

Rugby Development Officer.
Preseason game this Saturday at Tremain Field - NOB Marist v Hastings RS.

It looks like our Academy has lost midfielder Andrew Hayward (from the 2019 Hastings Boys' champions team). He posted a photo of himself on a rugby field at Ryutsu Keizai University in Japan, calling it his new stomping ground. I assume he's going to play in the Japanese University competition, about which I could not find any recent info.

Hey Fellas , just reaching out for a bit of information on a player that has transferred into the Northland area .
Trent Kake ..he is halfback ,
Want to know if he has played any NPC games for Hawkes Bay
Strengths and weaknesses and where he was ranked .. -
@steven-harris so he has just moved up here to try for a contract (do you know which club he is going to) not our dumb coaches signing people before club footy started?
Plenty of Kake's up this way...
-
@steven-harris Are you sure his name is Trent Kake? I don't know anybody with that name from here. If his name is Trent Hape, it's another story ...
-
Agree with @Stargazer - I suspect the player is Trent Hape.
Came through the HB Academy, has played sevens for HB, last year played for the HB Dev team and the Magpies WTG, so was probably 4th ranked in the province last year behind Enari, McLeod, and Tusitala.
Can also cover wing which is why he has played sevens.
-
@number-10 my apologies Trent Hape is the fella .
Would you rate him ahead of Connor McLeod and Zac Donaldson..?.
And do you see him as an NPC halfback..? -
@steven-harris Definitely not rated ahead of McLeod by the Magpies coaches, but mabye about the same level as Donaldson, who has played 8 games for the Magpies during his 5 years in the Magpies Dev team.
Hape played on the wing for Hastings Boys' in the 2016 Top 4 Final loss to MAGS and was also part of the 2017 title winning squad. He's been part of the HB Sevens team for years and participated in the Ignite 7s - I think in 2018. Can play halfback, wing and first five. He's been part of the Magpies Academy and WTG for a few years, probably played some preseason games for the Magpies (I can't remember), but never made the step up to first class games (either NPC or the Heartland Ranfurly Shield games).
@taniwharugby According to the article below, he plays for Old Boys Marist.
-
@stargazer yeah I was speaking to @Steven-Harris earlier and said he (Trent Kake ) had played for OBM on weekend.
-
@stargazer cheers mate , much obliged
