This is what happens when you play test cricket during the rugby season.

Really good solid defending by Conway, he's using soft hands like Williamson does.

I hadn't realised just how much Latham's batting average of 41.68 is based on doing very well against the lesser international sides.

really?.. I though everyone knew he only did well against lesser teams, his average against SA though is next level though

I hadn't realised just how badly he did against all of the half decent and upwards bowling attacks...

If we can survive to remain three down at stumps, I give us an outside chance of surviving tomorrow, but that is a big whopping "if".

I will to have laugh if we do the unimaginable at this stage and do survive tomorrow, as that will probably mean massive contributions with the bat from both Mitchell and CDG in this test.. cricket can be funny at times

    twice!

Seriously, though, if my boy Conway delivers 200, the other 6 only need 30 each to get us over the line. Simple 😮

yeah in a peverse justice sort of way I still have hope, given the fern has mercilessly mocked moon head junior and CDG on many occassions it would be fitting for most of us to be served humble pie.

although if we have to rely on Southee though to bat out one over though, we are dead already

That's not total pants for an opener against anyone except SA - and pretty poor vs Oz, but I'm guessing he's no orphan there. I'm happy enough with his record against England, India and Pakistan and one of my frustrations with plenty of NZ batsmen is their failure to cash in against the minnows - which Tom has done in spades.

That 100% depends on @nzzp s boy Conway.

Pretty much that simple. The rest are guys to bad for a good time but not a long time.

He could save this test, enable us to win the series and be a deadset hero. Fingers crossed.

Conway doesn't often miss out twice. We are going to need serious contributions from Blundell and CdG at least

I have more faith in the former to get set and grind it out. I can’t see CDGH scoring big twice in a row under huge pressure.

He's still living off that landmark innings on the aussie tour. Hasn't been as good since

What really sucks is the dread as a fan that we’re essentially potentially half a session away from a crushing defeat if things turn to shit early.

I haven’t had this feeling about the Black Caps in years. Not nice
