TSF Tipping 2022

"regular" might be a stretch, second season on the board and last year i kept forgetting to tip
-
@kiwiwomble That was last year when it was a bit disjointed, hopefully you will get into the habit and routine of tipping at, say, every Friday lunchtime.
-
@bayimports The more the merrier, you need to keep tipping to retain your position in the team in the unlikely event of someone trying to steal your spot!
-
@higgins thanks fella, but I gave up on tipping years ago. I suck at it, and always wind up missing picks during the comps for some reason or other (life!). It makes a mediocre performance prop up the bottom of the table.
so thanks, but no thanks - I'll just support the Blues
and note that it's nearly a year since we had live semi-pro or pro rugby live in Auckland.Edit: not strictly true - ABs played in August. Apologies, I really missed Auckland playing in the NPC and am still bitter
-
@mikey07 Yes, they are there. You can check for yourself by going to the Current Tips tab on this link https://www.thesilverfern.com/tipping/ you will see them on line 25 of the spreadsheet that will appear. If you want to check in future weeks be advised that the most recent entries are always at the bottom of the spreadsheet so you will have to scroll down to find them.

@higgins said in TSF Tipping 2022:
Relying on my memory the following regulars are still to get their first round tips in.
@broughie @kiwiwomble @delicatessen @duluth @ARHS @JK @Corkscrew @stag @mikey07 @laurence @buck @dogmeat @Cactus-Jack @neovarian @DK @sportboy @justin77 @gunner @Virgil @bayimports @Tim @plastered-peni
Remember tips must be in by 2145 NZ time tonight If you miss that then you can still tip but you won't get any default points for the first game.
No doubt there are some I have forgotten about from the above list so don't take that as a slight and you are more than welcome to enter into KPs Super Rugby Tipping Competition, many rate his one the world's best! Also newcomers, especially the likes of @NZbloke, or returnees from a sabatical, don't be shy get your tips in and have something extra riding on each and every game. You never know we might even get some long suffering Blues supporters putting their money where their mouths are so to speak, maybe the likes of @nzzp et al might be tempted?
Anyway here is the link to the tipping sheet for this week
- Good Luck to everyone in this warm up to the vastly more important and prestigious NPC Tipping Contest that comes later this year
Well blimey I didn't even think about this did I. Not that it matters as I got all my tips in in the big show (npc) and still did horrifically.
How do we know if we're assigned to a team? I'd be keen to jump on one of the Hurricanes bandwagons if they're not full.
-
@delicatessen At this stage both Hurricanes teams need tippers (Golds x 2 and Blacks x 1 - subject to PAJ fronting up). You just select whichever team you like when submitting your weekly entry sheet. If there are more than the required six then Kiwipie will draft you somewhere else but that is not applicable for the Canes teams at the moment. If that does happen to you checking the results (KP usually has them up sometime on Monday) will show your score and which team you are in. If you are late getting your tips in before the start of each round you get the default tip of Away 17+ for games you miss but that will not help you for last nights game!!!! If you miss the entire week you score five points less than the lowest scorer for that week.
Good Luck

OK this is the team allocation so far - achieved getting at least 5 into each team. Notable missing are @sportboy @Paj @Cactus-Jack @barbarian @Bones - welcome to newcomers @Machpants @Samurai-Jack plus John Nolan, William, Neale Davies - not sure who you are on here so feel free to identify yourself. Just need everyone to keep tipping and we'll have a great season.
Leading with maximum points before the Brumbies game are Higgins & Neale Davies.

-
Everything is live after week 1 and the tipping form is ready for Week 2
Plastered Peni leads by 2 after getting 3 out of 4 category picks correct. Nearly everyone picked 5/5 results so your placing was dependent on how well you picked the margins. Wins for the SunJags, Barbarians, Canes Black and BOP Chiefs.
-
Not sure if everyone knows the scoring system in place.
Pick result and margin correctly = 10 points.
Pick result and next door to margin = 7 points. (pick 9-16 and it is 17-24)
Pick result and nowhere near margin = 5 points. (pick 17+ and it is 1-8)
Pick 1-8 and it is 1-8 to the other team = 2 points.
NOTE: If a 17+ scoreline is actually 25+ then a 9-16 pick only scores 5 points.
A draw in a game means nobody scores any points.
The category picks (top scorer etc) are each worth 5 points.Team scoring is the average of the top 5 scores for that team so it is good to have 6 in the team to be able to discard one score.
4 points for a win.
2 points for a draw.Team bonus points.
- Score 3 or more maximum scores (10 pointers) than your opposition.
- Lose by less than 7 points.
