Nicholls is like a not as good Dave Warner
Great record at home, not so flash away.

To his credit every time the average dips under 40 he plays a big one and gets it over again.

at least he has turned up against a decent bowling attack as well, Im sure I've given him sh*t many times, but delivering against SA is a good result. Now if he could do that in SA, then that would be even better!

Steady on. Everyone knows he only performs at home.

Yep, Hayden and Gayle were magnificent players alright.

so the maligned Henry and Nicholls coming up big
Well done lads.
That's a pretty fucking good knock considering what he had to work with yesterday

Mitchell gone immediately after lunch. He has no business batting in the top 6 at test level.
I'll disagree on that one.
Looks to me easily capable of averaging 35ish at 5 or 6 over the next 3 or 4 years as we cross generations.
He's not really replacing mid-40s averaging Taylor or mid-30s averaging CdG. He's replacing the high-20s averaging Taylor and/or CdG of the last 2 years.
Only 'problem' is those are the cushier batting spots - which could be used to introduce debutants and youngsters.
-
Nicholls you useless fuck!

CdG in, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this will either be entertaining or short lived.
probably both

Considering those are the only two ways he plays that’s not really going out on a limb
I’m glad you picked up on the sarcasm 😉

I actually did but I’ve had a tiring week, can’t wait to blob on the couch and watch some cricket !

Our position in this game definitely a result of winning the toss and SA shelling those catches yesterday when the ball was still moving sideways. Definitely need a few more on the board yet

He is trying to bat a slot that Guppy at his peak couldn't make is own in an inferior side (and with world cricket being less bowler dominated). Mitchell as a batsman has many of the same flaws as Guptill but with way less talent and without a 5th gear.

Whilst Taylor was overshadowed in terms of utter brilliance by KW it’s also worth pointing out he was a bit of a “once in a generation” talent himself, especially by NZ standards. We might need to accept that Mitchell is the best we have and go from there.
