Auba hasn't been a factor this year, and the team looks better without him. However, only having Laca and Nketiah is a big concern.

They've scored one goal in 2022. Not sure that adds up with the above!!

Transfer Deadline Day a good bit quieter than usual but some good business done.

Donny vdB will be happy to go out on loan to Everton but bad news for Jesse Lingard (and England) as he will continue to warm the bench at Old Trafford

Burnley have spent some of the money they got for Chris Woods on Dutch International striker Wout Weghorts

Christian Eriksen gets the chance to resurrect his career and play into form for the WC on a season long signing with Brentford

Spurs sign a couple of Juve players -= one perm one loaner and Delle Alli may still be going to Everton

Other deals still to be confirmed Toxic Aubameyang to Barcelona on a free but will greatly reduce Arsenals wage bill.

Newcastle sign a couple of journeymen and Aaron Ramsay on loan to Rangers

Fulham look like they have lost yet another great academy graduate as Liverpool have made an offer for Fabio Carvalho. Rumour is he'll be loaned back for the rest of this season. Then he will probably be loaned out to a Championship side instead of getting Premiership experience with Fulham.

Speaking of Championship Bournemouth have signed 6 and Stoke 5 in this window as they try and get promotion - more likely for Bournemouth than Stoke.

As I type Carvalho deal falls through. So he will likely leave on a free in the summer

    Woeful business from Arsenal.

Let their only decent striker go on a free. Don't replace him anybody.

    I am pleased

Auba wasn't scoring any goals himself when he did play, and missing sitters from in front of goal. I would have kept him but this is obviously a financial decision to get his huge wages off the books.

Plus he's been having like a complete piston wristed gibbon for a long time now, seems disinterested and by all accounts was toxic in the team. Stupid not to have a replacement lined up but I think he had to go

The only Newcastle signing of class is Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon who would look to be an investment in the future. Wood, Burn and Targett are all pragmatic signings for the relegation dogfight.

Weghorst to Burnley is fantastic - if any striker from Europe could be signed to be "most like Chris Wood" it would probably be Weghorst. Almost as tall as Crouch ....

No idea what is happening at Barca. A forward 3 of Traore, Aubameyang, Torres sounds "interesting".

They are a financial busted flush. Needed that super league more than any others to keep their head above water.

The optimistic view is that Kroenke and Edu weren't prepared to pay stupid money now for a striker just to sign someone, but will go all in in the summer transfer window with more money to spend. Arsenal only have the EPL games to play so might be able to manage with the smaller squad. If injuries strike then fingers will be pointed.

Man U are in freefall. Out of the top 4 now, and looking hard over their shoulder at North London.

Hiring Frank Lampard proves a masterstroke as Everton lose to Newcastle badly

Everton managed to get 2 players who play an undefined role - Dele Alli and van der Beek. Both really need a system that utilises their talents, Dele used to have it at Spurs, Donnie used to have it at Ajax. Strange to take both of them as I cannot see them playing together and even one of them is hard to accommodate.

The "race" to finish 4th is a bit of a slow shuffle - all of the main contenders (Hammers, Man U, Spurs, Arse) are very flawed but one of them will take it - unless Wolves can keep on winning.

Yeah the 'race' to finish 4th looks likely to be decided by whichever team manages to go the longest without tripping over their own feet. Spurs dropping points against Southampton now. The various postponements add another mix - arsenal and spurs both have a bunch of games in hand.

One of the weirdest red cards I've ever seen this morning in Wolves v Arsenal. Martinelli given two yellows for two fouls in the same passage of play.

Pretty unusual since a player is likely to be extra cautious if they get a first yellow. Arsenal now 2 red cards clear of the rest of the league despite being giving up the fifth least fouls. Typical arsenal, boom or bust and no consistency.

Chelski beat Palmeiras of Brazil 2-1 with a late penalty by Havertz in Extra Time to win the World Club Cup in the UAE. They will be singing in the bars of Nevsky Prospekt tonight!

astoundingly, thanks to City having a draw and a loss in their last 4, the title race is actually back on. Liverpool close to 3 points back after battering Leeds this morning
