Black Caps v Bangladesh 2022

Henry was outstanding during the CWC19, I'll always have a lot of love for him due to his performances there. He was a key part of us winning the whole thing (which we did, despite England lifting the trophy, and yes I will say this every time I mention that God forsaken tournament).

Plenty of swing this morning but the Bangle openers have played it pretty well to date

Yeah, Guptill is a fantastic ODI player too. Doesn’t mean I want him anywhere near the test team.

Good catch from Blundell but his complete lack of footwork meant it was a tougher chance than it should have been.
-
one down..good catch, nice match so far from Blundell who was well below par on batting and glove work last week
-
Macca has no idea what he's talking about. There was no footwork at all until he dived at the last minute, for a delivery that wasn't far away from leg stump. You shouldn't need to dive to get to that.

I would have kept Ajaz in the squad ahead of Matt Henry on sheer principle after that 10 wicket haul, while acknowledging it would make him no more likely to play on a green seamer...
Henry is a waste of a selection. He’ll only play if one of the other seamers is injured. A really ordinary record reminiscent of some of our seamers in the 90s too.
Astonishes me they keep on selecting him at test level - he doesn't have variation in his bowling, no changes of pace, can't swing the ball etc, he's too easy to read with his predictable bowling... in English conditions where they get a ton of movement off the wicket he's very effective, just need to land the in good areas at off stump or just outside & the ball does all the work.
This is basically Southee at this point in unfavourable conditions too, but with less pace.

Guppy is such a brilliant batsmen - unfortunately when the bloke plays in a test he tends to freeze, the feet don't move, if he takes some of the confidence from the short form into a test he'd move his feet much better, allowing him to get in line with the ball to defend solidly, also he'll show better shot selection & leaving etc... confidence as we all know is huge in any sport, get tentative & you're in real trouble.
Blundell was under big pressure with his lack of runs going into this test... so was good to see him score a top 50 odd not out.

Southee has much more to offer in his bowling armoury though than Henry.
With the massive lead we have reckon we could be more proactive in our field settings.

At the body perfect Wags
it's just so effective. I could see myself getting out to it if I was playing at that level (obviuosly not a realistic scenario...)
All you can really do is take it on the body until they miss their length or line.

Looks like the ACC crew or associates are having fun with Cricinfo again... (edit, looks like someone has given them the heads up to remove it)
Such bad taste, I love it

He made a contribution yesterday about how he had driven up and down the country following Ross Taylor's career.
There is an effort today in there today from Timaru which is about as grim as it gets.

Arthur Thomas: "Beaut day here in central north island. My wife told me Rossco had retired, I said 'pardon me, you're joking?!'. I feel like he doesn't get enough respect internationally. That ODI average of 48 is incredible, isn't it?" --- Legends never retire after all...
