We have a wicket keeper who has allegedly averaged 17 since the 2019 MCG test batting in our top six. I'm not ecstatic about the idea of a green top at Hagley...
He's also not much of a keeper

First Test loss to Bangladesh incoming. And if it goes that way it will be thoroughly and completely deserved by both teams.
Is that worse than Fozzie losing to the Argies?
We are the world champions getting embarrassed on our home turf!
Worse IMO.
Bangladesh completely written off, 1v9 in the world, which Iβd say is equivalent to 1v18 in rugby terms.
I said it before, I think itβs the top 2 inches, we came into this game expecting things to just go to script, without earning it.
I expect a HUGE improvement in Christchurch, if not, then sure, it could be time to sharpen a couple of knives.

Can't say i've been impressed by the Black Caps demeanour in this test either - when things aren't going their way getting mouthy and now stalling for time with constant glove changes etc - get on with the fucking game
Well said. The attitude has felt a bit like the Black Caps world championship homecoming procession and Rosco farewell tour is being rudely interrupted by another team who just wants to play cricket well against themβ¦

Free entry at Bay Oval tomorrow. Might be quite a few Bangladeshi fans starting to think about travel from around the upper North Island with history potentially beckoning for their overseas record.
They'll be looking for flights from Dhaka!

@nta we don't all get the luxury of playing England.
Good point.
You also don't have the luxury of Kane Williamson right now.

Might be a few try to bypass quarantine and land at Mount Maunganui Airport tomorrow morning

Yeah, him and Watling would make me feel much more secure. Not sure Latham is much of a leader. Our depth is certainly being exposed.

Yeah, him and Watling would make me feel much more secure. Not sure Latham is much of a leader. Our depth is certainly being exposed.
Part of Latham's problem is that he averages 17 as captain and 42 when not. Small sample.
Not watching the match, but it's not a good look if we're mouthing off. Part of our secret of success has been not behaving like dicks. Stead might need to put his big boots on and kick a few arses.

But with Taylor about to go, KW injured, Blundell not very good and an extreme reluctance to give it to a bowler ( notwithstanding Cummins efforts ) who else can do it ?

Whatever the result, I would drop Jamieson for Henry, and Southee for Patel for the second test.
Before the usual Southee suspects get all wound up; if you can be left out of a team after taking ten wickets, you certainly can be left out of a team after bowling over after over of military medium right arm mince and cheese. Ditto Jamieson.
Watch him bat the house down tomorrow π

He is due for a jammy 70-odd. I'll happily send beers his way if he does...
