Talk is that they’re gonna have the rest of the series in Melbourne ?
Which would be total fucking bullshit. But that's a rant for the Covid Oz thread
What?? Why??? Oh my God this country has lost its fucking mind.
They could play anywhere and England won't get within 200 runs.

Generous.
Unbelievable that these two are right beside each other in the world rankings. The gulf between them is enormous.

I'm sure The Palace Chook would happily forget her principles for a wad of cash. Second Gabba test? Drop in pitch at QCB in Townsville?

If they played in England, I think the English bowlers would perform better and the Aussie bowlers would perform worse, so it would be closer.

Averages of England batters to debut in men's Test cricket over the last six years:
Foakes: 31.53
Burns: 30.92
Malan: 30.35
Pope: 29.79
Denly: 29.53
Sibley: 28.94
Hales: 28.26
Hameed: 27.80
Crawley: 27.74
Stoneman: 27.68
Lawrence: 27.23
Jennings: 25.19
Vince: 24.90
Westley: 24.12
Roy: 18.70
Duckett: 15.71
Bracey: 2.66Stolen from Wisden, I assume this is all the specialist batsmen who’ve debuted in this period ? Christ England would kill for debutants of the calibre of Nicholls, Blundell, Conway, Young ( ok, jury still out on him and Blundell maybe ) wouldn’t they ?
Fuck that’s a lot of players who have been tried and found wanting…..
Had to look up mid nineties NZ which is generally remembered as a pretty barren period after Edgar/Wright, using 1993-1999:
Jones 42.00 (1 test, for injury)
Astle 40.00 (1 test, tactically)
Wright 38.20 (his final series)
Horne 38.20
Young 32.12
Spearman 31.29
Stead 30.00
Greatbatch 23.17
Pocock 22.93
Murray 20.20
Twose 19.58
Bell 16.53
Hartland 14.75
Vaughn 13.25Strangely strong compared to that lot.

Poor shot from Labuschagne - not the length to play at.
Wood's extra pace an asset
Looks like the Cricket Gods have had their joke - OK we've got him to number 1, the fielders can start catching now!
🙃 I said to someone after the second test that England where learning despite the results. No warm up games haven't helped but they're finally getting the bowling length right.
If they start understanding when to leave with the bat, they'll be better than they've shown.

@nta I think the English bowling unit has more to offer than their batting unit. But, the Oz bowling unit trumps them - even without Hazelwood.
Not hard to be fair.
….but the English bowling attack is pretty decent it has to be said. The old boy has done bloody well.
@NTA what about Harris’s innings ? Enough to keep the wolves at bay for awhile ?
