Watched it. Crazy shot to get it too
What a fucking phenom.
-
Without doubt the best shooter of all time.
Would have been good to see Larry Bird play in today's game I reckon. He would have played outside a lot more, protected his body, and would have jacked up 12 x 3's per game instead of 3. With his strength I have no doubt he could knock down shots from well beyond the arc.
In his prime he averaged 29 / 10 / 6 on 52 / 43 / 88.
Nuts

I find myself agreeing with Stephen A (who I fucking despise).
If this team gets it together and Curry wins another ring or two, he could go past LeBron as the recent GOAT. He's already changed the game and he beat LeBron 3 (?) times already. If they win it all this year....

Brooooo
That's a terrible take.
I LOVE Curry, but he has a heap of weaknesses, and there are a host of reasons why they got up over that Cavs team, KD being a fairly large one. He's never had a commanding finals, and he's just not in the same league.
LeBron is clearly #2 all time, Curry scratching at top 10
And Stephen A is a tool. A very media savvy one, but a tool nonetheless. The Kim Kardashisn of sports
Edit - KD will finish his career ranked higher than Curry too. Best forward scorer of all time, and a much better defender. He's top 10 easily.

I agree about Stephen A, but in twenty years will we really be talking about LeBron?
Who had to move to win?
Who couldn't get past Steph?
Who hasn't changed the game?
I dunno, I used to really dislike Steph, but now I just can't. He has unlimited range and has literally changed the game.
Edit: btw, this is still hypothetical based on him getting another ring or two.

Everyone moves to win now, and Steph actively recruited KD. Steph never won a finals MVP. LeBron dragged disgusting teams to the finals. Steph gets abused on defense and has never delivered at GOAT level in the finals.
In 20 years LeBron will still be the #2 player of all time.
It's just not an argument man.
Edit - just to be clear! I love Steph, I really do. And I think he's a top 13, maybe 10 guy all time, when he's done. But KD is definitely top 10, and LeBron is top 2 right now.

@voodoo in the pantheon of shit takes, you're ticking a lot of boxes there yourself
"steph never won a finals MVP" is the worst because it's a joke award, and he has had at least one given to Dray because narrative, and from memory could have had another but denied by narrative.
Add in the way GS and Curry play. The guy is happy to play off the ball, and give up shots, if it means his team wins. In the eyes of some, that's weakness. The only reason Curry is still looked down on is he isn't 6 foot 6 with huge arms that is allowed to drive the lane with impunity, especially in finals. Current NBA fans looooove that shit.
If i wanted to sell a million shirts the first guy i sign is LBJ. If i want to build a winning basketball team, the first person i sign is Curry.
I'm not here to trash LBJ, he's fucking amazing (if a dick). His effort in a losing finals series v GS is one of the best things i have ever seen, he took them on almost by himself and almost got it. Incredible player.
But, for some reason people love to run Curry down. The fact of the matter is, the way NBA basketball is played today is down to one guy. And he is still better at it than anyone else.

Strange post.
First, Dray never won an MVP one, Iggy did (for basically hacking LeBron all series) - and it could have been LeBrons anyway (for averaging 36/13/9 with that squad) though they'd never give it to a losing player and I get that. But the fact that Steph couldn't win MVP in that series is telling - it's not a HUGE detriment, but it's telling, and he just didn't play well in that series despite being guarded by JR Smith and Kyrie fucking Irving.
I don't blame him for not winning in 17 or 18 cos KD is a beast and simply a much better overall player than Curry - I truly don't see how anyone can deny this is true.
Nobody looks down on Curry because he's only 6'3, that's just a bizarre comment. I'm not sure who you think is "running Curry down". He's the most beloved guy in the league right now, sells the most jerseys, is the face of the league. Cos he's a great guy, the best shooter of all-time, and the kids can all emulate him - much easier to take (not necessarily make) a step-back 3 than it is to bully your way to the rim.
But he has clear limitations that will see him never make it into the top 7 or 8 guys of all-time. He's just not in the MJ/LeBron/Magic/Bird/Russell/Kareem/KD level.
He just isn't.
Remains to be seen as to whether he can jump guys like TD/Shaq/Moses/Hakeem and a few others from the older eras. I'm happy to give him Kobe right now though, that hungus can drop out of the top 20 for all I care.

the interesting thing about that stat is
he also apparently had 535 fewer attempts than Ray Allen. So their "3 per game" stat is pretty close to even. It's just Steph is fucking way better than Allen.
Take that stat and stir in the variable of how many ridiculously deep 3s he takes. The best shooter to ever step on a court.
-
Curry will be talked about for eons as will Lebron.
Lebron brought something to the game that was pretty unique, a 6’8 freight train that was quick, powerful and the skills of what traditionally a 6’2 guard had. Add to that the winning and status. Bird is still my all time small forward though, but that is just my preference and not a slight on Lebron at all. It’s funny when you think at Ray Allen and Reggie Miller, I think most will think more about Reggie because of his personality, confidence and some of the freakish stuff he did and the fact he stuck with one team (in a smaller market). Add to that his sister was a freak in terms of scoring too! Loved Miller Time.
Whereas Ray Allen hoped teams, is a bit ho-hum in terms of personality, but could really really shoot. He is more in the mould of Dale Ellis who Reggie beat for the record all those years ago.
Steph has had the freedom and worked freaking hard to be able to take 3s in a variety of ways that when you look back will have people thinking “what, how did he do that?” Add to that all the other parts of his game, the moving, all the screens he sets (like no other guard I’ve seen), the way he has scored around the basket, the assist game (when he wants too). He’s a bit of a unicorn in my eyes. People say Dame, but Steph does not have to be ball dominant and given the way Chauncey is trying to change the Blazers offence, Dame has been found a little wanting without the ball as much.
-
@act-crusader Seattle Ray Allen was really freaken good, people forget because he played so many bit-parts in his later career - basically 25/4/4 on 45/40/90 shooting with very little help
-
another crazy stat that sets him apart is apparently 40% of his 3s are unassisted. His ability to shoot off the dribble is insane
-
@act-crusader Reggie Miller is one of my all time favourites. A stone cold killer in a big game.
Another example of toxic NBA fans. Apparently to the modern NBA fan, Reggie was shit.
