Might be cynical, but knocking a ball back to your try line isn't against the laws of the game.
-

Read is unimpressive with his decisions at the back of the scrum.

Taufua over....damn, and I went for 8-16 too with the rain!

He is saying a deliberate knock purely to stop it going wide with no intention of trying to catch the ball is a deliberate knock, just that it went back, and was asking about the rule
-

It was, you asked if it was cynical.
-

I know what he is saying, I just cant understand his logic, should it be also considered if someone jumps for a kick off and slaps it backwards with no intention to catch the ball? As long as the ball can be passed backwards, a slap backwards should not be considered as anything else than that. -
So we get 5 minutes to see the Crotty/Havili midfield combo. Thanks Toddy.......

Was just a random thought I had as the Waratah slapped the ball backwards in a potential Crusaders scoring opportunity. Thought to myself, hmmm that's bloody cynical, deliberately slapping the ball away to prevent a try - even though it was backwards. Is it any less cynical that some of the marginal deliberate knock down calls we see?

So again, not disputing any laws, just pondering out loud. Its what The Fern is for isn't it?
