I am absolutely shocked that we escaped with a draw there, I'm not sure there is any other team in the world that would have survived that final day. The mental toughness this team displays when the heat is on, time time time again, is absolutely phenomenal. What a team.

Axar should have been given a go in the final hour. He carved us up in the first innings.
In hindsight they may have left it too late (he did bowl 2 of the last 3 overs. But when you have Ashwin and Jadeja - two of the worlds best, you would tend to trust that they will do the job.

The Hobart 1997 test ended with Doull and possibly O'Connor or Chris Drumm batting the final hour. It probably makes the list with an asterix as we only ended up in that situation due to some cavalier batting after a sporting deceleration by Mark Taylor.

He and Latham need to run the net sessions and show everyone else how to ignore scoring zones and hang around.
Nice surprise to wake up to the draw I must say.
India handed us that draw then just fell short of clawing it back. They also made bad decisions particularly by not attacking earlier as if they thought the low run rate was going to rocket away like a T20.
There was no way that pitch was going to accommodate a win for us. It was going to be draw or loss so in that regard we did well.
Stole some points off India in the World Championship too.Now let's see Wags back. Roscoe find a groove and our middle order develop some steel.

Draw is an outstanding result. Well done to the lads, and particularly the last pair - outstanding.
I miss elite umpires, but thank god for DRS. It's a 3 day game wihtout it.

Edit: and refer my earlier nostrildamus comment about chasing 150 being tough, and 200+ being a miracle. We could have had a crack at 51/5, but couldn't quite finish them off. India 51/5 --> 234/7 --> no chance of a win.

Rachin is a product of my old school and was seen as a bit of a prodigy when he was dominating at that level a few years ago.
It's awesome to see him come through the levels and survive that barrage last night in his first test. The kid is probably more suited to the top order but he will relish any opportunity at this point. He could become a real gold nugget for us if his bowling can match his batting.

x100, see I don't watch T20, and not even a 50 over fan although I do watch a little!!
And I like the list you got there Cyclops and will remember the Coney/Chats partnership forever, and even if during it at one stage Chats played a ball for a 4, and as he so unused to actually hitting the ball ,I think he ran past Coney twice who saw it was a boundary from the start, Chats never really looked but just ran like a rabbit, it really was funny to see! -

It was nice that Somerville and Ravindra got over the fact they were totally innocuous with the ball and provided us with some hugely valuable time at the crease instead.
That looks sarcastic when written down but I actually mean it. I’m thrilled that they played a part in us avoiding defeat like they did.
Not a test that Taylor or Nicholls will remember fondly, one or both need to seriously pull finger next time round. KW will be frustrated with his efforts too, some ammo for the bobs and vagene crowd who point out his record in India isn’t flash.
Roll on the next test, Wags in for……….one of the spinners, dunno who. If Jamieson and Southee fire again then Wags can surely only add to the perils for India.
The guts to see off a bowling unit of that calibre was most impressive. Excellent gutsy work there fellas.

Patel was the most used of the spinners wasn't he? Also the only one to get wickets and the most expensive.
However going back to relying on our quicks to take wickets we could well afford Sommerville and Ravindra to pad out overs, provide options and backstop the batting.
