It was a massive error for Man Utd not to sign Jurgen Kloop when he was keep to come in 2013. He would have been the ideal replacement for Sire Alex Ferguson. Both Moyes and Van Gaal should have been given more time. Mourinho was a terrible hire for Man Utd. Clash of cultures and styles. OGS was an even worse hire. Not the CV for it. Out of his depth. He has looked an ill man in recent weeks.
My guess is Zinedine Zidane will be their first choice. But apparently his wife is not keen on a move to England.
Yes to all this (except maybe the ZZ bit, not sure if he's their target). And it highlights the fact that the club is a mess, the way they appoint random managers with completely opposing styles shows a lack of planning and understanding of how to run a club

@bovidae His coaching resume looks great, but can he coach? I suspect he'd struggle at United.
Agree - his value to Real Madrid was keeping a bunch of prima donnas happy when they already knew their structure. United needs to have a structure applied.

I've seen some silly shit around "who would actually want the job?"
Seriously?
Huge club. Roster stacked with talent. January window just around the corner. Heaps of money.
Someone good will want it.
Nuno? Another huge settlement payoff in February would be very nice for him!

OGS fired. Worst coach of a big team I've ever seen in any sport. Absolutely clueless.
It was always crazy to give him the job permanently once he had cheered everyone up when he was the caretaker. He got away with it with no crowds and a freakish away record where almost every game they would have a woeful 1st half and sheer talent would rescue them in the 2nd. In fact that was his coaching talent - putting out sides which always looked like strangers in the 1st half - that Watford calamity was an epic way for him to leave.
A bit sad to see him go as the soap opera has been fun and there is always the worry that someone might make United a good side and nobody wants that.

We can all have our Derby "hate" but it's a tight togetherness in disliking Man U

@mariner4life We're Norwich without Delia
One season of getting cocky - the world's your oyster, then the reality check.
Next year will be different.......

How do all these managers command such big salaries simply to hop on hop off teams and walk away with half the club's money?
With the track record most have (club hopping through failure) you have to question the smarts behind signing them with such ridiculous sums.

With great power comes great responsibility.
A good manager is worth every cent.
-
@majorrage also from the day you are hired you are just waiting to be sacked.

That's my point. There is a monied merry go round of those that aren't good but egos of owners keep employing them thinking that the problem belongs to other owners not themselves.

Easier to hire a new manager than sell all your players
-
I still can't believe that Spurs fired Pochetino, to replace him with Mourinho of all people. Dumbest managerial sacking since Newcastle got rid of Bobby Robson for only finishing 5th in the league.

No, it's about trying new things. Look at the success Moyes has had at West Ham after a succession of failures. Sometimes the square peg for the square hole takes a while to find.
It takes a colossal ego to manage the colossal ego's of players. And whether you like the money part of it or not, there is huge money in football and that's the way it is. Why would a manager sign off for a pittance of what his best players are earning?

He'd lost the locker room by then. The dumb part was not backing the best manager since I can remember when he said we needed to retool the squad. We are still trying to fix that error now
