But anyone who thinks restrictions on people who chose not to get vaxxed are like discrimination / apartheid / Nazi Germany is away with the fairies
Don't take the comparisons so seriously. I think there may be a bit of tongue in cheek involved.
Yeah, I know, but there's folks out there saying the same stuff in all seriousness
Fuck looking at him. He should definitely get jabbed!!
-
@voodoo I have no problem mixing with the unvaxed but have used the opportunity to disassociate myself from some rabid anti-vaxer conspiracy theorists (moon landings were faked, Twin Towers an inside job lunacy).
The irony is the controls that are being put in place are all about protecting the unvaxed.
the fear and anger is palpable and rising by the week and is going to splinter society and potentially have far longer lasting effects than the pandemic. Race relations are going to suffer and all manner of other schisms are emerging. I know families who now don't talk to each other.
The reaction by some to the notion that Auckland's border might come down was really disturbing as well. There is a sizeable prooportion of middle NZ (both demographically and geographically) who are relatively unaffected by lockdown and would rather it continure forever

@wairau Looks more to me like a continuation of Aussie aping everything Murican. The wrapping everything up in the flag and nationalistic jingoism is a sad trend in Australia IMO.
I liked it because of the song.

It's not the flag wrapping that bothers me, it's which flags are on display.
If there's a jurisdiction that's earned the right to protest about freedom, it's Victoria.

quick, and genuine question, because i don't know the answer
why is there still a focus on QR check-in when the vax rates are really high? Will they still be attempting to trace every case? will positive cases still be isolated?
Guy in my team just got the message that he's a close contact from a venue 4 days ago. Has to get tested then isolate for 7 days from expose date then no high-risk spots for a further 7 days after that.
What?? Why? You fluffybunnies are vaxed as fuck!!
So this gets worse. He had to get a test yesterday (came back negative this morning), then needs another tomorrow, then another next Wednesday!
Seriosuly, why the fck did we all get vaccinated again???

Data gathering.
@muddyriver makes a good point above about Pfizer's modelling. They need to understand everything about potential breakthrough infections
-
New data released on Tuesday evening showed all states and territories had passed the 80 per cent first-dose vaccination milestone except for Queensland, which is at 79.84 per cent.
Fewer than 50 per cent of Queenslanders aged 16-25 are fully vaccinated compared with more than 90 per cent in NSW, with restrictions for the unvaccinated in the nation’s most populous state set to ease at 95 per cent, or December 15, whichever is first.
That's dreadful.

@antipodean QUEENSLANDER!!!!!

Ok, not what I expected from NSW. They do sound like some silly rules

i hope to fucking god we are seeing the death throes of people giving even a single solitary fuck what epidemiologists have got to say.
University of bumfuck epidemiologist Alarmy McNotrelevant says that with case numbers rising, new restrictions should be put in place
"look, i understand my model is being proven wrong, and yes, i am ignoring the decrease in hospitalisations and deaths, especially because they are waaaaay under my deluded expectations, but, you should pay attention to me, and maybe fund my department. Look at the cases people!! you are fucking dooooomed"
fuck off nerd. Your time in the sun is over.

@mariner4life haha mate that gave me a genuine chuckle

@mariner4life Quaaality!

@mariner4life I hope they go the same way as the Constitutional Experts that emerged during the foreign citizenship stuff a few years ago. If I have to hear from Mary-Louise McLaws one more fucking time, I swear to god...
