The howls of outrage in Canes-land will be deafening.

First the Blues pinch Beaudy - and now we've made off with Hickey.....

I'm getting sick of other teams stealing our world-class first fives, develop your own for once. 🙂

It seems a couple of young LF’s from the Academy have been given full Crusaders contracts for 2022.

They seem to like Liam Allen so I'm guessing he's one

Interesting. I don't feel either are exactly ready. I rate Kellow, and I think he'll do okay but Gardiners pretty small and pretty inexperienced

For the Crusader U20s he seemed very mobile but he was definitely pretty lightweight. I think he's a good player... But realistically he needs to put on 10kg, and even then he'd be small

@chris great player with a huge motor. He’s 2 years away from super rugby level. But we have a lot of depth in the loosies. So plenty of time for him to get his body to that standard

Academy Stats lists Dom Gardner as 189 and 99kg.

Edit .Under 20 stats have him at 1.93cm and 99 Kg
That’s seems about right as he’s taller than Kellow who is 1.87 cm and 106 KG.

So, what do we have now (most likely)?

    @chris said in Crusaders 2022:

From what I can find out the 2022 Squad looks like this with some gaps to be filled
    A Lock maybe Romano.
2 Loose Forwards Segner maybe one.
First five unless Havilli is used as cover . If so another back or a 7th Prop maybe the option.
2 more backs. Isiah Punivai and Dallas McLeod I would be happy to not see these 2 getting those spots.

    Props:
Joe Moody, Ollie Jager, Isi Tuungafasi, George Bower, Tamaiti Williams, Fletcher Newell

Hookers:
Codie Taylor, Brodie McAlister, Andrew Makalio,

Locks:
Scott Barrett, Quentin Strange, Mitchell Dunshea, Sam Whitelock, Zach Gallagher

Loose forwards:
Cullen Grace, Pablo Matera, Ethan Blackadder, Sione Havili, Tom Christie, Corey Kellow, Dom Gardner

Halfbacks:
Mitch Drummond, , Bryn Hall, Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi

Inside backs:
Richie Mo’unga, Fergus Burke, Simon Hickey

Midfield:
Jack Goodhue, , Braydon Ennor, David Havilli,

Outside backs:
Chay Fihaki, George Bridge, Kini Naholo , Sevu Reece, Will Jordan, Leicester Faingaanuku

I presume we need another loosehead prop. Which side is Tamaiti Williams expected to specialize in? I reckon Sam Matenga is good enough to play Super rugby, but he's a tighthead. Ryan Coxon seems to play both sides and might be a decent stopgap - and then there's Kershawl Sykes-Martin who is apparently well-rated but injured. Someone suggested that Southland tighthead, Apoua, might be coming?

Shilo Klein, Quentin MacDonald and Sam Moli as potential hookers. Different attributes with each. Razor will probably sign Klein, because he likes Cantabs.

I suspect we will be underwhelmed with the return of McLeod and Punivai - unless you guys have heard differently.

yes thats what I think it looks like at the moment.

I have heard Southland Prop Chris Apoua has been signed as the 6th prop he is a TH.
so Williams looks like LH is were they will play him.

Hooker I hope Its Sam Moli he has a bit of size about him.

I am hoping we don't resign Punivai and Mcleod but probably have if so it looks like just a Hooker needed to close out the squad.

    We certainly wouldn't!

Been the case for quite a few seasons - even when we had Mitch Hunt.

@chchfanatic mentioned We would use David Havilli would be first cover for Ritchie.
Which would be a good move.

@chris I don't think we've won a game when Dave has played first five - but, I'm prepared to be wrong.
