Surely going through to the next WC Whitelock will retain the captaincy
Gets my vote, he is decisive, clear, keeps pressure on.
Edit: oh I'm reading between the lines but you mean even if Cane returns? Yes, I'd still prefer Sam.Which Sam lol

Tomos Williams, Ross Moriarty and Wyn Jones (the prop) were the pick of the Welshmen. Dan Biggar did well when he came on. Hope that is not the end for Alan Wyn Jones, top man whose flagon should never be empty.
Priestland.
Can't blame you though. All those Welsh look the same.

Yeah totally. Cane is awesome, but Whitelock is less prone to injury and a better capt imo

That was an entertaining watch. Welsh always looked like they were barely hanging on in the first 60. I'm a bit annoyed at how stupid Lomax gave away the free kick with his three early engages, even after the ref explicitly told him not to. Laulala needs to work on his tackling technique. More wrappy-wrappy, less shoulder-fucky

JK now saying what I have been thinking, Blackadder and Paps allow Savea to play looser. Someone here said Akira and Savea are too similar at 6 and 8 together, but I still like Akira competing in the loosies. I'm beginning to think Blackadder has a nose in front at 6, and then there is Luke Jacobson in the reckoning. And Sotutu. We really are spoiled at the moment.

Yeah, our Welsh poster was raging at half time how the ref had ruined the game, I assume buy not giving cards to beaudy and Blackadder and/or a red to nepo

Perhaps we can try different players with the captain's armband until we get it right? Worked at 12 & 13 for the last few years...

I thought the ALB-Rieko centres combination looked infinitely better than Havili-ALB. In fact, I wonder when they are going to give up on the inside centre experiment with Havili, whose lack of directness offers no threat and disrupts the entire backline. I can see he was an acceptable stopgap but they really need to develop Tupea.

All of this.
Nice Super Rugby player all the same.

I m hopeful with Tupea , for no other reason than he looks like a genuine 12 , and we haven’t had that for a while

Just how much has Calebs Clarke’s 7’s decision stymied his All Blacks career…
I back Caleb Clarke and Jack Goodhue to be back next year.
We are lucky to have so many quality players at the moment. I say lucky but it's down to the hard work of coaches from NZ grassroots to schools to academies to the NPC to Super franchises and the AB set-up. You make your own luck sometimes.
Just need a few more top-quality 9s and some Props with more complete skill sets.

Havili seems to be going backwards in form. That of course has the caveat that he looked his best playing Tonga, Fiji and the Wallabies.

I really thought he did as well.
And it's not just the opposition, it's decision making and unforced error rate. he was good in those games as he ran straight, and opened up space outside him. Now he's playing like he's gunshy, and slipping off tackles all over the place.
I had high hopes - could have been a multiskilled 12, with passing and kicking, as well as some decent directness. Right now, though, I'd take Laumape over him any day ... and that's not going to happen.

I wasn't quite as sold on the Papalii/Blackadder combo. No doubting their workrates but both were inaccurate at times at the breakdown giving away stupid penalties or missing cleans.
In general, the ABs were much more direct so that the props and locks were also more involved.
The midfield needs to be either ALB-Ioane or Tupaea-ALB.

Couldn't agree more bov, I really liked both Papali'i and Blackadder, but both are almost neither a 6 or 7, and not quite sure they have their roles absolutely worked out. And that is not a harsh criticism, just something minor.
I wouldn't mind seeing Tupaea/ALB midfield combo, as much as I like Havili, I not sure we not missing something there.
