Anybody heard any oil on when the NZ Super Squads will be released ?.Are we looking at the normal Nov 1st, or due to an extension to NPC and a latter pre season for SR teams,Something like a Dec 1st release date.
You'd hope itd be a bit later to give the Auckland etc players more of a chance to win a contract. Though I guess there usually aren't many spots free anyway

@chris I DMd all the super teams on insta last year and the Highlanders got back to me with a date. I'll try that again, well every team apart from the Canes as they've blocked me.
Hahaha they blocked you, geez that’s good PR ,
I see why Canes supporters get frustrated.
Ok good call let’s hope the Highlanders get back to you again. -

@chris was about a year ago. When they announced the signing of Julian and I commented and said that his spot would be better off given to a young player within the region so they blocked me lmao.
Fair call mate I kinda agree with you there.

not sure the best place to put this, ya feel for him, at his best he was a great player, just a pity we didnt get to see enough of his best
-
@kiwiwomble was great in his prime. Just unfortunate he couldn't retire on his own terms.

@kiwiwomble Another guy who had terrible luck with injuries as well as the mental health side of things.
He fractured his spine playing club rugby, before he ever graduated to provincial rugby, so a bit of a miracle he got as far as he did. But, endless streams of injuries between then and now.

Fantastic Super player who never quite brought it consistently in the black jumper. On his day though, he still had some good games in the black jersey.
The fact that the coaches pinned their hopes on him for the 6 jersey post-Kaino is not his fault, especially given his injury run and mental health issues (and good on him for speaking about those).
Good luck to him and thanks for some great memories.

Not sure whether this is the right place to post this.
Taranaki posted this on their social media:
Does anyone know who we need to talk to, in order to get a player signed to a Super Rugby contract? We’ve got a list of names
Someone on FB responded by mentioning a few names. Then Kylem O'Donnell (yes, the former Taranaki/Waikato/Hurricanes halfback), posted this long response.
We all know several players who we think deserve a SR contract and from my perspective, this story completely fits the Hurricanes. It makes you wonder how much talent is missed in NZ, if this is indeed true for all franchises (it might not be true). -
Taranaki has a larger number of players in the Chiefs squad than the other 3 provinces so I don't think they can complain there.
But O'Donnell is right about the politics behind rugby selection, at all levels. The problem is that there is only a fixed amount of contracts available at the professional level. That includes coaches.
