Farah Palmer Cup 2021

Waikato will play for a place in the Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) final without nine of their best players who have been made unavailable because of Black Ferns call-ups.
Nine players (Grace Houpapa-Barrett, Tanya Kalounivale, Kennedy Simon, Ariana Bayler, Chelsea Alley, Stacey Fluhler, Carla Hohepa, Renee Holmes and Cheyelle Robins-Reti) from Waikato, who lost 8-7 in last year’s final to Canterbury, were named in the national women’s squad on September 6.
Wellington and Northland will also not have their Black Ferns available for this week’s preliminary finals, although they only lose three (Joanah Ngan-Woo, Dhys Faleafaga and Ayesha Leti-I'iga) and two (Krystal Murray and Portia Woodman) respectively. Shield Snorters have no Black Ferns in their squad.Next weekend’s premiership and championship finals, hosted by Canterbury and Manawatū respectively, will not feature Black Ferns, too.
Waikato coach James Semple said it was fair to not have Black Ferns available for the finals because it’s a blanket rule for everyone, starting this weekend.
“We're stoked for our girls who got selected [for the Black Ferns] and stoked for those who get more game time,” Semple told Stuff.
“The Black Ferns have got a job to do. They need to prepare for England and France, who have played in the Six Nations. We understand that.” -
Some massive score blowouts. Showing the disparity in depth and defensive ethic across the competition.

Holy moly! I expected an easy win for the Kauri, but the Tui just beat them in a very close match, thanks to a Subritzky-Nafatali yellow card and Cottrell missing all but one conversion.
FT: Northland 26 - 27 Shield Snorters (HT: 21 - 10)
The Tui will be blown away by the Cyclones next week though.

The final will be going ahead.
Waikato’s rugby teams have got the green light to resume training in Cambridge after fleeing Hamilton to avoid being locked down as parts of the region moved to Covid-19 alert level 3 on Sunday night.
Most of the players and staff from Waikato’s men’s and women’s teams relocated to the Podium Lodge in Cambridge under strict Covid-19 protocols and couldn't train together until all returning negative tests.
All of those tests came back negative, Waikato Rugby chief executive Carl Moon told Stuff on Tuesday, and the women’s team will be flying to Christchurch to play Canterbury in Saturday’s Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) premiership final.
