Any punters in CHCH who might want to help form a crowd for the Granny in two weeks' time? I've got a couple of mates who'll be keen mainly because it's a grog up at a pub, and probably my old boy. I might book some space somewhere with a screen I know will show it.

I can see a bit of an issue already in that it'll possibly clash with the All Blacks' first test against SA. I've seen two wildly different kick off times just now when googling. One says it's on at 4.30pm NZT and another says 7.15pm AEST which is either 9.15 or 10.15 here as I can't recall when daylight savings starts.

    @shark I'm sure it's 5.15 Perth time which I think will be 9.15 there

Some eerily similarities to last nights game.

Dogs and Dees GF. All-Melbourne affair in Perth

The two qualifying performances make for a really interesting comparison. Hard to know what to take from them. The Dees were at least as dominant, if not more so than the Dogs but Friday's result is now tainted by the Geelong virus story. It's possible that the Cats haven't done us any favours in serving up what in some ways was a training run, while the Dogs put up a similar margin against a full strength Port. I'd certainly feel better about it if the virus story hadn't emerged. But never mind. Both sides now have two weeks to prepare for the Granny, will re-set and start on an equal footing. Can't fucking wait.

That was one helluva Brownlow ceremony. What a race. Some of the contenders benefitted from being stand outs in poor sides but were still worthy. For the Dees I think we ended up with three with 20 or more votes so it's the opposite. Outside of Gawn, Petracca and Oliver from memory I think McDonald, Jackson, Fritsch and Lever also polled.

The round recaps get a bit monotonous as the narratives are remarkably similar from segment to segment. And none of the WAGS had great tits. But aside from that, a great watch.

@shark the Brownlow is a farce. Takes too fucking long. Midfielders who get heaps of it, no matter what they do with it, poll every single game. Narratives develop, and you can see the anomalies.

@mariner4life agree re midfielders. A bit like QBs winning the MVP and league halves being by far the most prominent players. It is what it is

No changes to the Dees. Anyone else feel like this is going to come down to big Maxy vs the Bont?

i reckon it's May and Lever just killing Bulldogs 50m entry play after play. Then hitting Oliver or Petracca out of defense, and away we go.

Bulldogs need manic pressure and a lot of sneaky handballs, but even for all of that, they need to score, and that's where those two very good defenders come in.

I'm throwing my support behind the Dees @shark

In the context of covid, I'd like nothing more than a Western Australian team to lose in front of a Western Australian crowd.

yeah me too with the Dees

The Eagles getting horsewhipped in a GF in Perth would have been fucking hilarious. Especially if it was by a Sydney team

I like both of these sides and can’t stand the two teams they beat in the prelims, so happy for Dees and Dogs.

When my family moved to Oz we made friends with an Aussie family that were mad Dogs supporters. They bought us scarves and beanies and took us over to the Western Oval to watch a couple of games.

Given we lived in bayside, it took ages to get over to Footscray. The old man said, surely there’s a team closer by. Moorabbin was 10 minutes away from home so we hitched our wagon to the Saints.

Where we lived though was in the Demons catchment area. So my primary school played little league for the Demons. Demon players came to our school to run clinics and stuff. There were a couple of Demon players that lived near us too.

Big Max and his Kiwi heritage made the back page of The Press today. That made my early morning. Then I got work-fucked.

Awesome. But you realise the Western Bulldogs are from the Western suburbs of Melbourne?

I just saw West and presumed Eagles. Footscray's fault for changing their name.

    Doesn't change anything either.
