2021 Hawke's Bay Representative Rugby

Apparently our U18s played as well. They lost 26 - 28 to Wairarapa-Bush U18. No shame, considering they must have missed a lot of players, with Hastings Boys, Napier Boys and Lindisfarne all playing games this afternoon, as well. So must have been a third-string team.

Not sure whether the Hawke's Bay Saracens are still playing, this year. The silence of the HBRU with respect to rep rugby is deafening. Nothing in the media, either. These are the games I've been able to find via other unions' websites:

Manawatū U18 v Hawke's Bay Saracens U18 - 12.00pm @ CET Arena field 4 (Palmerston North)

I don't know what the rules for development teams are, but with the Magpies having a bye this weekend, I hope some of them will get a run for the Saracens. Don't want them to be undercooked for the Ta$man game, next week. Flanders is an example; MMT and Makene ... Kereru-Symes and Bryn Evans if they're ready to play. -
Results Rep games 2-3 October 2021:
Hawke's Bay U19 27 - 31 Hurricanes Heartland U20
Hawke's Bay Saracens 30 - 19 Taranaki Dev
Hawke's Bay Saracens U18 36 - 21 Wellington Centurions U18Hurricanes U16 Tournament
Div A: Hawke's Bay U16 40 - 34 Manawatū U16
Div B: Hawke's Bay U16 Dev 7 - 38 Wellington U16 Dev
A really bad year for our U19s; they've lost all their games, except their preseason game against an average Wai-Bush Baabaas team. With this year's squad, I'm not surprised. Based on what I've seen during their 1st XV days and for Hurricanes U20s and/or HB Academy, I rate some of the players, particularly Harry Godfrey, Jayden Stok and Carlos Kemp; maybe Andrew Hayward, Mitch Curran and Will Robinson, but the majority have never stood out for me. It's not good for our Academy.Hopefully, the best of this year's school leavers will be on Academy contracts for next year. I assume several of them played for this week's U18s (the best weren't available for the previous games). I just wish the HBRU published the names of the rep squads, particularly the HB Saracens and HB Saracens U18. The media don't seem interested in rep rugby either. Frustrating if you try to follow certain players and can't go to games.

Was wondering how the combined Nelson Bays/Marlborough outfit got away with stooping to contracting in players (including one that might have even actually played for a Heartland team earlier this season) from other provinces when things got a bit rough for them on the injury front. Had a brief look through this https://www.nzrugby.co.nz/assets/2021-Competitions-Regulations-Handbook-June.pdf to check out whether the still rancorious three week residential period was still required for players to be eligible to take part in a shield match. Couldn't see it at first glance but it might still be in there somewhere amongst the 109 pages covering interprovincial matches. Will take a closer look at the transferring of players regulations situation when I have a bit more time later. Clause 4.1 (f) (ii) with reference back to the Five Games Loan Players (excluding Front Row Players) definition on page three of the document looks to be a good starting point if anyone is prepared to do the Sherlock Holmes sleuthing work.

Hi @Higgins, I saw your post in the Magpies v Ta$man match thread about the Hawke's Bay Saracens game.
Where did you find, or how did you get, the team line-up for the Saracens? And can you, please, post it here?
All season, I've been keen to find out who are in this squad but the HBRU have never posted it.I also see that the WRFU are going to livestream that Samoa U18 girls v Centurions U18 girls game at Porirua Park at their Wellington Junior Girls Rugby Facebook page. I wish they did the same for the men's Centurions v HB Saracens game!
