Black Caps - Bangladesh tour 2021

That game worked out much better than the first two. It's a sign of middle age where once I could watch the games all night, now I involuntarily fell asleep with three wickets left to win...
Thought that was a much better balanced team selection last night too, even with some of the lower order batting not needed.

The good part of the squad selection starting to pay off a bit. Selecting squad with a fair selection of proper test quality batsmen rather than T20 specialists, in fact guys with some poor T20 records (Nicholls, Latham, Blundell. Ravindra also but no doubt he will be an all formats player in future).
Allen is a good attacking player of spin bowling, has a nit of wristy flick to both/either get it over infield and /or work it to gaps.
Getting a score, recovering from dodgy position, to put on a total with a bit of scoreboard pressure.
I'm not that surprised by our food performances of the spinners (maybe McConchie has surprised me a bit). Every time in last 2 to 3 years that we have gone to Asia our spinners have done themselves proud. Just NZ pitches are spinners graveyards (in the test format). It's not a surprise that they can 'surprise'.
This squad also plays the 3 ODIs v Pakistan. Maybe the copious amount of seamers will be more useful then & there (who knows, I haven't seen a game from Pakistan for almost 20 years ), but for this section we are still half a spinner short of the ideal make-up.

Awesome to see us get the win after the heartbreak of game 2. That's gotta be the tactic though, bat first and grind out 100 - 120, then scoreboard pressure plus a dodgy pitch work together to make chasing very difficult.

Batting first in game four. Ravindra has a bit to learn about batting patience it seems, having just thrown away his wicket to a good catch after four dot balls to start the innings. He gets his chance for redemption with the ball later though…

Allen is a great striker of the ball, but that was just dumb. And he knows it, judging by his reactions waking off…
Compounded by the fact that Young looks very uncomfortable out there

So…Bangladesh have just reviewed an LBW shout off Will Young to a ball that kept low.. off the full face of the bat!?
2.6 Nasum to Young, no run
Here comes the shooter: zips in from around the wicket. Young just about jams it out. Or did that smash the pad first? Not given out lbw, and Nasum calls for a review. Replays indicate bat first and only bat. It didn't hit the pad at all -

Disagree with the criticism of the first 2 wickets, but that by Tom was a bit silly v an offie, at this stage.
We were going well. Only need a hundredish.
Needed to keep ticking it over until about the 15th.
He was under no pressure. Now Nicholls gone. We are going down
