Just watched that Anika Moa video and yeah she was quite tidy back then, especially in comparison to what she is now. Is that the guy from Banshee driving the car at the start?

Some were sacked some resigned , John Campbell was offered another job but resigned instead , the staff at 3D were fired for example .

The tone of the comments is changing, I think even fans are getting fed up with the sheer amount of coverage a woman changing jobs is resulting in.

I mean the Beyonce of the news, fucking hell. As for that article, Paula Penfold, isn't she Mike McRoberts wife? So not exactly a neutral source.

One of the favourites to replace her is Samantha Hayes, so I'm not sure that's a good reason to keep Hilary. HB is certainly more than passable though.

Thing about Weldon is that he took on a thankless task. If you're leading major restructurings it is bloody hard to take a lot of the people with you - especially if your restructuring involves sacking their friends. Eventually, when things settle into a new normal people might realize you're not such a bad bastard, but the toll on people and productivity is usually high - at least in my experience.

I reckon if you're employed to be a hatchetman then you're best to do the job, take the cash and get the hell out - let someone new reap the benefits of your "bad cop" performance.

Good piece, most people wouldn't know who Weldon was. The fact that a cretin like Anika Moa tweeted about him says a lot about his opponents snd what he was up against.

I don't disagree with that but it does make me wonder how he treated people in doing his job when the remaining staff hold a party to celebrate his departure. However you look at it that isn't a sign of a company that has found any kind of good culture.
I have been in companies where a hatchet man has come in and in one case was a 'victim' but no matter how much others muttered or complained I can't imagine them holding a party at work when the guy departed.
At my current work we have had a couple of necessary restructures and they were handled openly and with dignity. The bosses were very upfront and caused very little bad blood. Some departees have even come back.

I don't think anyone is arguing the culture was good! But who is to blame for that? The lazy answer is the boss, but that is simplistic BS. If you get bought in to make change and people with high profiles and even larger egos refuse point blank to change or even negotiate? You need to get rid of them. And if the act of getting rid of the toxic elements makes others annoyed.. is just part of the cost.

I think you may be underestimating the elf importance and ego of those employees. Be hard not t be when you are puffed up by the rest of the media.
