I don't know, maybe its cos its suck a tiny world, but the pedestal they place themselves on is ridiculous considering what they actually do. They whore themselves out at every opportunity, then swoon and say ahhh I can't bear the constant attention, I'm going overseas. So they do. And no one pays them any attention whatsoever, so they come home and find another show, desperate to be wanted again.

Fucken word to this post Mokes, an ex of mine was into theatre productions and such and was in a few ads back in the day and we got invites to parties where a few shithead street "stars" were known to attend. Stuck up cocks doesn't even begin to describe them, the thing that shits me most are the ones who went to Toi Whakare and have this strange "accent" ( the bloke who plays Chris Warner is a great example of this ) hard to describe but you know it if you hear it.....

The worst one on earth who I never actually met was apparently Melanie Lynskey who actually somehow made it onto two and a half men and would have no doubt earnt a fair bit in that show ( or maybe they paid her fuck all cos she was a kiwi who could do a passable American accent ? Charlie Sheen would have drained all the funds I think ) . She loved to portray the whole "I'm just a low key country girl from the naki" schtick when in actual fact she was a colossal bitch with numerous famous "demands" when on set including tearing shreds off one of my exes fellow extras for daring to eye up a sandwich ( in a big group of sandwiches ) that the caterers had dropped off cos it was just for her and her friends and not the crew.

Puzzling that news isn't a priority as it seems to be the platform that most TV stations the world over prioritise. I guess that's part of their vision for the future and time will tell if the lemmings feed at the reality TV trough - shudder.

Departures of that many staff and the gung-ho CEO leaving in a whimper is not good strategy or management however you want to trivialise it. No company wants a CEO to come in and only perform for 18 months despite what spin they want to put on it - that's not effective governance.

The board are to blame or the "contractors" (are they?) are to blame. I'd say the truth lies in the middle but no way are the Board and the company giving high fives and saying "we're right on track, all's good"

They will be disappointed that he left I think, but no way of being sure. But I am fairly surely they now they had a toxic environment of under performing staff, and they needed to be cleaned out. The fact the CEO was hounded out, wont change the drive to turn things around.

Gung ho? No. And the debate about wether it is a good strategy depends on the end goal. In this revenue and viewership.

And I put all the bale on the contractors and the entitled attitude they have. The board will be disappointed the stress got to him, not about the path they are on.

I understand. If I saw 8-10 high profile people leave NZRU, a Super franchise or NZC in the space of 18 months following a new CEO appointment, I would be looking at the organisation more critically than the departing staff

Yeah I met her, she seemed decent as is Peter Elliot. Many, many years ago over Summer I did lighting for quite a few shows at Circa theatre, volunteer work in exchange for a few beers afterwards. Really, really fun times, much of said fun was observing some of the prima donna shit from the "cream" of NZs acting talent, Ray Henwood, Dais Dad, could throw a fucken tanty like no one I've ever seen.....problem is that he's not Laurence Olivier, Oliver Reed or Richard Burton, he's the guy you vaguely remember from a few ads here and there.

Of course ya can't label them all the same, The Chris Warner guy might talk funny but apparently he's a decent joker. It's definitely the young ones ( when I say that most are older than me ) who were on the cusp who were the biggest dickwads.

People leave jobs all the time, particularly f they have huge egos and are told to change how they operate.

Yup, I've worked for an organisation that decided to completely change the way they operate, and changing the culture was a big part of that. Before they started they predicted they would lose up to 50% of staff that would not adapt to the change and leave, probably disgruntled. How many staff they lost was not an indication of the success of the change, and in fact they are now a far more efficient outfit as they hired people that fit the new culture and mindset much better. Basically got rid of the fat, and are leading the industry at what they do now.

But that all played out in private, whereas a T.V. station attracts comments from the general population on social media, who by and large are complete fucking idiots that love to have an opinion on stuff they don't know the first thing about.

I have no idea whether Weldon was doing a good job, I'm not going to make any assumptions based on uninformed or biased opinions, but I don't blame him for leaving given what was being reported about him in MSM. Fuck that, may as well focus on his other companies which have been largely very successful.

Yep. At one Herc/Xena party, my flatmate and I were having an epic game of pool with Kevin Sorbo, Bruce Campbell and Michael Hurst (who was one of the few kiwis who was cool), and I remember Dean O'Gorman on a couch nearby being a complete fucktard. It was really eye opening, the big stars being hard case good sorts, and the Shortland Street bit player being an arrogant twat.
