Warriors looking sharp today. Feels like this could be a shootout though.

I like Walsh more and more every time he plays.

Not sure if there are any closet Jason "Costo" Costigan fans on here, but he's calling the game on SENZ today. I've managed to sync the radio call with my Sky Sport picture, so it's like a throwback to the 2000s.

Just to confirm, you're choosing to listen to Costigan? 😲

Is he no longer as politician?

I reckon he's great. Adds something interesting to the commentary - better than McIvor, who they replaced him with, and any other of the generic commentators we've had since! I think his political career fizzled out.

Walsh got smashed in that late hit. He's tough as nails.

He tops my all time worst commentator list and until this moment I don't think I've ever heard someone say they like his commentary.

Interesting, most of my league loving mates think he's great. It is entirely possible that I just hang out with munters, of course.

The surface at Redcliffe looks quite impressive. So good it's almost un-australian.

Talking about un-australian, the Warriors were just awarded a dodgy try without it going to the Bunker. 22-10 Warriors.

@dice Best player in the game for me. Manly were a rabble without him, now he's turned them into contenders.

He's like what Joey Johns was to the Knights in the 2000s.

Warriors were a couple of fumbled tries from blowing them away, but it was a good win, albeit against easily the worst team in the comp

I feel like 9th would still be a win given where we were a couple of months ago. I've finally got round to logging in to TSF on my work computer so hopefully will be a bit more regular round here.

Unlikely to even finish 9th..barely fumbled to a win today. Still could screw a few other teams but we are just not good enough this year, injuries don't help obviously

There are like 4 good teams in the whole comp, everyone else is varying shades of ordinary.

So i wouldn't be shocked to see us finish 9th. I mean, a record of 9-12 gets you a finals spot FFS

Also the most important bone in the whole comp is Tommy Turbo's cheek this week. Either it's fine, or Manly are fucked.

that last part is 100% accurate.

I know we have a better run in than a lot of teams, but I dont even think we beat the resurgent broncs this week not gold coast later. I am not talking about other teams ability to fall over either as youre right outside top four not much happening, but I suspect for warriors although possible, not probable

look, for the 2nd season running, they are turning up week after week despite living in fucking Australia, and i am not sure they are getting enough credit for that. Add in 3 wins on the bounce (always knew RTS was holding us back) and there is a lot of credit to come out of this year.

You are right, we're as likely to come 12th as 9th, but they are putting in a shift, and at times playing some decent football.

A running dummy half, a grade-standard halfback, and one quick centre and i reckon we are in business. A hard, quick, ball-playing middle forward wouldn't go amiss either.

Strongly agree with the bolded bit. It hasn't been our best two seasons and we've blown a bunch of games we should have won, but you know what? We watch it from the comfort of our lounge with our families around us, they've been double bunked in hotel rooms for the last two seasons. The uncertainty of it all must have taken its toll.

I spent the last three months of my time in Thailand with my wife and kids living back in NZ, and aside from getting to go to the pub more often, there aren't a lot of upsides. It's quite disruptive at a personal level, so the fact these guys can still turn up week in, week out, without too many complaints is something they should be proud of.

I think we'll be a better team for it once it all gets back to normal. How well the guys went last season when some of the stars went home was phenomenal.

I personally do think they get the credit, but they lost their way in the middle regardless of injuries this year and lost games too many games they should have won, which is on them..
To be honest, I think the bulk of our recruitment has been solid. If Lodge, AFB and Tohu stay on the park, then thats a pretty good starting middle 3. That leaves Curran, BMM, Bailey and Kotoa to rotate the edges. We have a running dummy half (albeit a kid, Taniela otukolo), but he is also too green at this stage and injured. Keeping everyone fit and out of judiciary is key. I do worry CHT goes too hard in defence for his shoulders and partnered with the hammy king next year, keeping two fit halves on the field will be impossible. Luckiliy the buy of the year Reece Walsh could fit there although Brown has been reluctant to do it. Anyway if we finish 8 or 9, I will be happy but they should not forgive themselves or forget that St George match which was the epitome of league hopelessness.

@bayimports that bitter drunk Buzz Rothfield tried to say the Warriors have it easy because they are staying in a resort. Who wouldn't love that?

    fuck i can't stand those NRL360 jerkoffs.

There is the making of a good team there you are right. Need to play with more tempo and dare i say it, drop a few more balls trying to create linebreaks. A high completion percentage doesn't mean much these days (did i hear yesterday the Bulldogs have the best stat in the comp for it?) you need to be challenging the defence all game.

I desperately wanted to dislike Lodge when they signed him given his past conduct. However, had a bit of a read about him and it looks like he has tried real hard to atone for the America incident.

He's the type of prop we need in our team. Reliable, hard running and a good head on him. Sometimes a bit prone to pushing too hard for an offload, but otherwise I think he's been our second-best buy in recent years behind Walsh.

@aucklandwarlord Lodge can play 60 minutes every game in the front row and offloads, he has a massive engine for a prop. One game even went 80 with injuries. I tried to dislike him too, but efforts on the field have been more than solid. i even find that he is often in judiciary for BS (historical bias), more than significant issues.

@mariner4life buzz just needs to retire, the guy is a joke (mind you the core of that NRL360 is), although they generate a lot of story lines in the media which rugby could learn a thing or two from.

Where do you put the signing of Fonua-Blake if Lodge and Walsh are your top two signings? To me he's better than Lodge and Walsh, although he's on a bit more money.

The big man had another big game yesterday with 212m(102m post contact) and 31 tackles. We haven't seen those sort of numbers from a Warriors prop since Steve Price.

Aitken and Montoya are two other recent recruits that are starting to the look the goods.

Curran is not really a recent signing, but he's come of age this season.
