Excellent half from Auckland. Really good intensity.
ruck work and defence most impressive. Forwards looking good, which is great.
On balance, basedon a half of rugby, I like the 50/22 rule. Rewards good kicking - and will help us develop fully skilled wingers who can kick, or whoa re so damn good that kickign is optional.
Ruru is playing really well. Physical, good kicks, some good rips and defence. Long way back for Canterbury from here... but with the wind, exits will be hard. Big second half coming up

We've been a rabble thus far. Hopefully a decent halftime chat and then turning with that breeze will make a difference but it's a big deficit.
It's an inexperienced Canterbury side but also plenty of promise there. Not the best opening game to get with the injuries we've got and we need guys like McKay, McLeod and Stowers to step up and support the vets to make it easier for the new blokes to slot in and make a difference.
Just looking at who we're missing who you would reasonably expect to be there and I count McAlister, Dunshea and the entire first choice loose forward trio but the backs are near full strength if you exclude ABs from the reckoning.
