Shut it down, turn off the lights, the Games are over. NZ finishes 9th. That is it.

Not so fast. We have the sailors and Lisa Carrington as serious medal chances yet

This is true!
I was thinking at the final whistle that Hirini, Brazier, Woodman, Fluhler and Fitzpatrick now have full set of winners medals.

Frankly we're now above par at 4 golds.
On average we win 3.

Did Burling and Tuke finish their event today? They are in with a gold medal shout along with Carrington who I think has at least 2 shots

I've watched fuckall of this Olympics but managed to catch the final.
The try just before the half was such a decisive moment, and was absolutely world class. Stretching the defense wide and then slicing through back on the angle and completely wrong footing the French defense... just awesome.

Based on Hirini's comments there are going to be retirements (like her) and maybe changes to the coaching team.
Wonderful way to cap off a long career by riding off into the sunset with gold in your saddlebags

Superb match. Quality of woman’s rugby sevens is up a long way since I last watched it.
Which is the argument for higher level comps at XVs. Teams won't rest on their current qualities but improve by competing with the best.
Just as in the mens at NPC players can get away on athletic ability against weakness rather than upping the skills across the board..
It takes a while but IMO that Women's Sevens comp was better than the men's one.
