Result: Ta$man Mako HP XV 31 - 24 Cook Islands
I feel sorry for the Cook Islands I canโt see them beating Samoa or Tonga to progress to the Asia/Pacific Repecharge.
My flatmate's nephew was the Cooks reserve hooker yesterday and flatmate said he hard hardly played for the last few years. Looks like the 'Ikale Tahi or the Manu could be in for a sizeable victory when one of them comes to play them in the final elimination..

@tim apparently Solomone Kata is on Aucklands radar for this year's NPC?? Not sure how accurate that is but don't be surprised...
If they need to recruit a him from the Brumbies then they might also be after his cousin Liaki Moli as part of a joint deal.

Hahaha
The otago B comment was just because they've signed about five or six players from Dunedin club rugby in the last couple of weeks.
I think it's great.
Heck, I had the same joke with Otago being Hawke's Bay A in the 90s.
We all pinch and share players.
Lighten up dude.

Southland is fast becoming Otago B.
Ta$man B would be more apt when you look at their spending spree.

Managed to get something out of the Waikato Rugby Facebook page today. I asked when the squad will be announced and they replied saying they will bring a wider training group together after club finals (this weekend) then announce a full squad towards the end of the month.

@yeetyaah I find it hard to believe they wait this long until naming a WTG. Surely, a WTG has already been training for some time? The comp starts in less than 4 weeks.
Maybe the training group is quite โwideโ ? Keep them all interested in club performances.
Most teams have a few extras that are just outside selection or being trialled at trainings anyway.
CM have only just announced the Heat team and the FPC starts this weekend. They are also waiting out club finals before releasing the NPC squad. -
I don't have SM accounts so what I read is via the Mooloo website, which does show their FB and twitter posts. The WRU does regularly post articles (e.g. today in history, happy birthday wishes to players, and the current Team of the Century competition) but I do believe that they have their priorities wrong for fan engagement for their rep teams. Promoting games, particularly pre-season games, and publishing team lists are important if you want fans to firstly, know there is a game to be played, and secondly, to watch them. This seems like basic information that any sports team/organisation would want to advertise. I also think that the Waikato Times sports reporters (e.g., Aaron Goile) could be better and publish regular articles. Maybe they have the same problem/frustrations with the WRU that we do. Look at what Logan Savory does in Southland.
