Ireland vs Japan
-
Ireland making very hard work of this
-
Japan would do themselves a massive favour if they stopped playing mindless frenetic rugby.
-
Ireland bash their way over
Uninspiring but effective
Ireland 19-17 Japan
Halftime
-
How good is Tamura?
Sublime skill to set up that try.
-
That's a good try by Japan. Now to watch them screw up their exit and concede more points.
-
This is a damn good test match.
And Gibson Park has played well.
-
Japan getting screwed by some blatant home refereeing.

Yep blatant BS I feel sorry for Japan
-
I also feel sorry for Japan. Their players deserved better as the referee was really harsh against them. Same offences but different outcomes whether you are wearing red stripes or a green jersey. However, I have to say that this young Irish team has some real talents in it.
-
Said it last week too, I love the style of rugby Japan play, really positive, don’t remember them being offside much, just went out the play their game

The ABs need to arrange tests against Japan every year.
Get them into the RC, there could be some great games, any gap to arg and aus doesn’t look that big
-
in true fern fashion I had little idea who won and by how much reading this thread (39-31 to Ireland).
-
@kiwiwomble I think its a matter of when tbh. They're only gonna get stronger as well.

Wouldn't it make sense to have a combined 'Asia-Pacific' team playing out of Japan. The Jap side is pretty much that anyway with their island recruiting. If a new international side was formed for annual comps the individual sides could still select for Olympics, RWC .
A Pan-Am side could do the same with Arg/US/Canadia -
@crucial Funnily enough, I was thinking about the old Pacific Islands sides and how it was probably the way to go moving forward looking back on it, where they could base themselves in Auckland or Sydney for internationals, but sadly, it never kicked on.
I think Japan are strong enough to just go about things on their own, even without the imports. They'll continue to go from strength to strength.

A fair bit of their strength is from those imports with the flipside being that they are weakening the others while doing it.

I think Japan have enough history (and results) to justify them standing in their own right, i think we've learned these manufactured team often dont get supported, people think its not "their team"
