That game was based on an earlier post by @Canes4life about Wellington's preseason. There is a NZR Next Generation FB page which may have some info.

@bovidae I follow that page. It doesn't have any recent info about the NZU20s (yet).

That cancellation has appeared on the WRR's website only the last few days. Maybe it has to do with Level 2.

All is clear now. The WRR's website says "cancelled" because the game has been moved to Palmerston North!
The game will now be played at CET Arena. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.

Wellington Rugby has posted their first and second half line-ups:

I haven't been able to find any news about the NZ U20s.

The New Zealand Under 20s get their 2021 campaign under way this afternoon in Palmerston North.
The game against the Wellington Bunnings NPC team was moved due to the Covid19 restrictions in place in Wellington earlier this week.

Head Coach Tabai Matson has named a strong side with several players having Super Rugby experience.

The match kicks off at Central Trust Arena on Wednesday at 2.30pm.

The New Zealand Under 20 team is:

    First Half

    1. Joshua Fusitua
    2. Soane Vikena
    3. Sione Ahio
    4. Josh Lord
    5. Zach Gallagher
    6. TK Howden
    7. Sean Withy
    8. Vaiolini Ekuasi
    9. Nathan Hastie
    10. Aidan Morgan
    11. Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens
    12. Corey Evans
    13. Gideon Wrampling
    14. Chay Fihaki
    15. Ruben Love

    Second Half

    1. George Bell
    2. Joe Gavigan/20. Jack Sexton
    3. Luca Inch
    4. Dom Gardiner
    5. Fabian Holland
    6. Nathaniel Peters
    7. Anton Segner
    8. Peter Lakai
    9. Cortez Lee Ratima/29. Manu Paea
    10. Ruben Love
    11. Te Paea Cook-Savage
    12. Riley Higgins
    13. Meihana Grindlay
    14. Chay Fihaki/11. Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens
    15. Harry Godfrey

@bovidae funny that they refer to the Wellington team as the NPC team, it’s more of a barbarians side made up of Wellington club players.

Looks like plenty of quality in both 20s sides. Shame this isn’t on TV as it would be cool to compare how Love plays at fullback in the first half vs first five in the second half.

@canes4life It's a Wellington XV according to the graphic.

There are a few Hurricanes U20 players in the Wellington team who will have a point to prove.

I'm interested to see who the NZ U20 captain will be. One of Gallagher, Withy or Wrampling I would think.

@bovidae Solo is just making his way back from a serious knee injury that threatened to derail his career before it even started, hopefully he can get through the match unscathed.

Ropeti, Halalilo and Webster-Nonu will be keen to make a statement.

Does anyone know if the match is being streamed anywhere?

@bovidae Segner captained the Crusaders U20, didn't he?

Yes, until he got injured. Gallagher was the NZ Schools captain and took over from Segner for the Crusaders U20s.

The 1st half team for the NZ U20s looks to be close to their best XV. Segner would likely come into that team at no.8. Halfback could be any of the three.

Is Segner eligible for NZ? I thought that Fakatava missed out on the U20s as he wasn't eligible. I thought Segner was in the same boat. (I've probably asked this question, or someone else has, already but hey the memory isn't as good as it once was).

@nepia He is named in the squad so must be. Reece played for NZ Schools but wasn't eligible for the U20s, so was not included.

Yeah, obviously, but what is the difference between him and Fakatava and Reece? Did his whole family move out here?

Could he play a test for the All Blacks on Saturday?

More 'correct' sounding surnames, so no one checks.

IIRC Fakatava missed out on the NZU20s because of visa problems, not due to ineligibility.

The normal eligibility criteria do not apply at U20s level.

If a player comes over on a scholarship, that time at school doesn't count towards the residency period. Is it possible Segner came over without a scholarship?

Edit: changed the last sentence as I don't actually have any clue, and I half made that up as I went along.

No visa issue for Kefu. He was born in Oz. Did his schooling in NZ and his family is still here. Just lured back with opportunity.
