I have not seen one mention of Stead, on here or in the media.

I've seen versions of the right hand photo doing the rounds on various social media. This is a nice CricTracker meme for him:

Right now, the Black Caps are a more formidable and more professional side than the All Blacks.

also, this is supposed to be a happy place, i'm reporting you
big fucking ban hammer for @Snowy

@donsteppa good to see him being acknowledged.

I guess that most of feel that he has inherited Hesson's side?
He has of course added Jamieson and Conway but they were no brainers really. I'll give him his give due, he has maintained the progress and as a team, all of them, coaches to players, it clearly gels.

I wasn't looking for that reaction at all....
Here you go, group hug:

An interesting thing for me is the succession of batting coaches - Macca, Fulton and Ronchi. Not necessarily guys that, at first glance, you would have expected to help create a side as good as this - but, they're obviously adding value.
Can't remember quite what the line of succession has been from Bondy to Jurgenson, but a similar thing applies.
It certainly seemed like Shane was very influential in the early development of Southee and Boult, but the following guys have evidently done a good job.

@chris-b Donald may have got the ball rolling...pun๐
We've got to be a bit careful about giving any more Jaapies any credit.
Next thing they'll be want to put a grubby hand on our mace!

At least 3 of them already have, and they all earnt it too.

BJ came here when he was 10 so I don't consider him a poach
Wags might have been 12th man for SA twice but he's now a dinky di Kiwi...
Conway's just another Saffa who genuinely came here because of his love for L&P - cricketing opportunities never entered his head
The Big Man is obviously a westie with that mullet
-
@dogmeat None of it matters.
We're probably not going to be hearing from Stephen for a bit, anyway.
I've got a feeling that England might have fielded a team with 6 or even 7 foreign born players back in the days of Lamb, Hick, the Smiths, Small, De Freitas, Devon Malcolm et al.

Hereโs a question to ponder.
If Paddles got picked up by Marty McFly and transported into the future at his peak ( when he was in his 30s ) which of our four pacemen would he displace ?
I mean, heโs fucken Paddles, a better batsman than any of them, better bowler too so no way you donโt select him but which one of our four current champions misses out ?Unpopular as it might seem Iโm gonna have to pick Boult.
Colin surely... But of the 4, agree it would be one of the openers, so Boult currently since Southee seems to be getting better with age.
Yep:
- Hadlee
- Jamieson
- Southee
- Wagner
- Boult
- Hadlee used to bat 7, Smith 8, Braces 9 in the games that I vaguely remember
- There was always a suspicion that Hadlee could have has a better batting record if he wasn't having to take wickets at an average of 14 so we could win Tests
- Doesn't matter how supposedly "weak" his batting was, with that bowling attack we wouldn't be relying on runs from the tail to win tests
Boult drops out if we need a spinner, but except for in the sub continent, we don't need a spinner with those five.
How would you fit Cairns and/or Vettori into that line up?
Should be noted Carins has a better bowling strike rate then Paddles...We are at that point where its next to impossible to pick an All time 11.
Best to look it as al All time squad of 13 or 15.With Paddles at 7 that means pushing BJ to 6 and a shorter batting order.
Kane, Taylor, Crowe, Andrew Jones, Turner, Latham, Nicholls, Richardson not too mention Bert Sutcliffe, JF Reid and Fleming into 6 spots.
Brendan McCullum wasnt a bad player either...Vettori has scored more test runs @ 8 then anyone else in history not to mention is our 2nd highest wicket taker.
With Southee, Boult and Wagner we are in a position we have never had before. A bowling group thats played on and on and on.
Had a few other excellent bowlers with comparable records, Doull, Nash come to mind. But they only lasted a handful of years.Shane Bond is a weapon we have never had before or since, up to just a few years ago he would be a shoe in for any all time Black cap side, now hes almost forgotten.
We already seem to be penciling in Conway and Jamieson and those guys have only played a handfull of tests..

@chris-b Actually I think stacking the team with players other 'better' teams have rejected gives the victory added piquancy
There are of course no better teams than us.
I might need to ring a few people in various parts of the world just to remind them where they stand. Gloating is so unbecoming, but I'm just going to have to.
