Pretty incredible that an island as large as Tokoroa , and with its outlying atolls of Putaruru and Tirau have only 1 club. Basically the entire South Waikato sub-union is now just 1 club? In the second division, at that.
-
@Rapido Back when Tokoroa was much bigger in population there were 3 clubs (Tokoroa, HSOB and Pirates) but they amalgamated into SURF in 2001.
This article is 2 years old now but gives some background into the problems they have faced in recent years.

@gunner cant wait for some grizzled old mate with 200 games under his belt and the wasteline that goes with it to tell him hes out of position or something
@taniwharugby 216
I certainly fit the above criteria 🤣🤣🤣

went along to watch Kamo host Hora Hora.
And KAmo were up against it from the outset with HH nabbing a 60m intercept inside the first 40 seconds, it would end up being 1 of 2 long range intercepts HH would score from.
Kamo went down 26-36 and have now lost 3 on the bounce, although they are probably secure in the top 4, they have dropped well away from now 3rd placed OBM who drop from 1st to 3rd after losing to Mid Northern who move up to 2nd, while the Western Sharks continued their run beating United Kawakawa-Moerewa to take what is surely their rightful place at the top of the table.
2 pleasing things from the Kamo v HH game today: Tamati Tua made his first start of the season from the bench, one try assist with a nice draw and pass and then a nice 30m try with a fend, a little in and out and ran away to score, looks strong and quick, the other good thing, Will Grant: he looked bloody good today, bloody sharp runner from the base, always a threat.
Manny Snooks who had a stint with the Raiders (think it was their U18's? a couple of years ago) certainly looks to have something about him, would like to see him involved with our HP team.

Looks like Taine Plumtree will be playing for Wellington this year. He came off the bench for OBU over the weekend and made a huge impact apparently. I really hope the Canes sign him up and his stint with the Blues was only a one off.
