This still makes me a bit sad though
What a way to go out though. Part of me wonders if Rossco is next ?
I want him to retire in front of a home crowd with his family present.
It will be hard to top going out like this

Kane's press conference. All class of course:
A couple of vids, winning runs and highlights ( in Hindi)

@virgil Virat, i actually really like you
but you can jump in the sea with the other piston wristed gibbons i have already pointed out. You knew the rules fluffybunny, we horse-whipped you by 8 wickets despite 95% of the test being ruined by English weather.

A better representation of Kohli, speaking after the match:
Virat Kohli: "First up, big congratulations to Kane and the whole team. They showed great consistency and heart to pull out a result in just over three days, sticking to their processes to put us under pressure. They deserved the win. The first day got washed out, and when play resumed it was difficult to get any momentum. We lost only three wickets, but we could have got more runs if play had gone on without the interruptions. Today, the Kiwi bowlers executed their plans to perfection and pushed us back, and we were probably 30 or 40 runs short. [On not picking four quicks:] You need to have a fast-bowling allrounder for that. We've been successful with this combination in different conditions. We thought this was our best combination, and we had batting depth as well, and if there was more game time, the spinners would have come into the game more as well. [Jamieson] is a quality cricketer. He hits really good areas with the ball and he's a gutsy batsman as well. He's had a great game and thoroughly deserved to be Man of the Match. It's great for the game, the more the Test format is given importance, and the Test format is the heartbeat of the international format. We're looking forward to the long summer ahead. We've got the squad and the quality to do something special."

wow.. what a win! This really is a milestone moment for all those involved. Champions of test cricket (in my mind real cricket). For those retiring or about to retire this would undoubtebly be right up there in terms of highlights. Really happy for them and hopefully puts to bed some demons from previous games.
Hopefully this also leads to enhanced tours in the future and opportunities to show how good this team is.
Well done!

How many of India's ODI World Cup wins have been in a best of 3 final series...
Oh the irony! We want to play more tests against NZ to prove who is best.
Funny how you don't say the same for the regular test calendar. -
Swimming in coffee now to stay awake after the last two nights.
Looking back on an eight wicket win in ten years time will make that game sound a lot easier than it felt. I think it was @No-Quarter who mentioned the top quality Ferning last night. The collective TSF rollercoaster of euphoria, panic, ruing chances, rehashing selection decisions from last week, and sending people to bed in a very small way reflected the battle of attrition that was going on in the real world.
Seems entirely fitting that the Ross and Kane show got us home. An eight wicket win also takes any possible 'jammy winners' accusations out of the mix too.
An eight wicket win is all the more remarkable given the quality of that Indian team. I'm still in awe of what they managed to do at the Gabba. I read an interesting comment on one of the social media feeds from an Indian fan lamenting that some of the young players who did so well in Australia weren't playing today. I don't think they quite had a 2002 end of year All Blacks tour moment - playing the rookies and discovering that they're suddenly better than some of the old hands - but I also wonder if that Gabba lower order might have saved them with another 20 runs from the bat in each innings.
The quiet happy glow from that one will last for a long time. Taylor will have some interesting reflections to make. While I think he'll ultimately decide to retire at home, it'll be hard to beat hitting those winning runs for a last shot in international cricket.
If there's panic buying of coffee beans in local supermarkets today, it will be entirely cricket related.

@siam he's good value Virat. And he gets right up the Aussies which i love. He's also a fucking genius with the bat.
Takes a genius to remove a genius.
KJ is my absolute hero, the bobs and vagene crew are losing it on line and saying he needs to be dropped from the IPL team. Theyβve also said horrible things about his family too. Feral Indian fans are the absolute worst.

i would like to start this presentation by acknowledging Tim Paine
Tim, i am going to bend over, you get on your knees, lean forward, and suck a fart directly from my ass. And then turn your head, and with that fart in your mouth, pash Mark Nicholas. And you two just share that fart between you.
All the haters, the doubters, the there-by-default, vaguaries-of-the-draw piston wristed gibbons can get on their knees and choke on a hard piece of kiwi glory
Because right now, we are the best cricketing nation on earth. We won your fucking test tournament. We had the ODI World Cup stolen off us, and oh look, in the hit and giggle stuff we are top 3 as well. You keep disrespecting us, you keep giving us 2 test "tours" at the start or end of the summer. you keep deluding yourself that India, England and Australia deserve to be somewhere we are not. None of that matters, because, as the old saying goes, runs on the board matter. And we have considerably more than you.
Meanwhile on twitter..... im sure its not related at all to this morning's event..

Hope they tag the correct Tim Paine this time.
Actually, no I don't. I don't give a fuck.
About either fucking twitter, or about being so insecure that someone else's opinion was that another team might win.
