Everyone who was fucking on about us 'coming out of the gate strong' should fuck off to bed.

Like you've never been a Blackcaps supporter.

The simple truth is that we are like an Oakland As Moneyball team - collectively over time we can do some good things, but when it counts in one game, we still have very few truly world class players who can and will handle the pressure.

So fucking predictable. Tough conditions, maybe, but 34 runs from the whole fucking session?

    50 or 60 for 3, I'd take. But only 34.

Sorry, thats shithouse and they are fully deserving of all the criticism if they are prepared to take the plaudits.

Low scoring tests are so much more entertaining than those played on roads

I wish we had gone with the Will Young option.

Completely disagree. The team is littered with world class players. We did enough to win the CWC which is the biggest stage of all, and bar one test series we've been consistently outstanding for a few years now.

Our innings right now is almost identical to India's. You just can't get in on this pitch no matter how long you are out there, so a collapse is always imminent. Like us, India have a world class attack so batting is really a battle of attrition and luck.

We're putting up a good fight, and the fact we are deep into the test with all 3 results possible shows how tight it is.

We’ll be ok if at a minimum we can get within 30-40 of them first innings. Conditions don’t look like they’ll improve today, so I’m picking India will struggle as well.

    Sunny spells tomorrow.

    Nah...

We bowled well and took almost all our chances. Our openers dug in, Kane is still there. Yes BJ looked old and Ross Taylor was as enigmatic as ever but I don't see any signs of the pressure getting to anyone.

Great, and agreed, but that was not the talk last night and this morning.

I'm specifically referring to the arrogance of thinking that we would run over this Indian team, who as you point out, also have an excellent attack.

I also don't think that we have consistent performers btw - the stats on Nicholl's with chances versus without have already pointed that out.

I'm so fucked off with the coaches for not strengthening the batting.

7* in the session, I think, for the No. 1 batsman in the world.

Still 25 wickets standing in this test and five sessions to play - so a result needs an average of five wickets per session.

Given the batsmen we have left in this innings, there's a fair chance we will lose five in the next session, but hopefully we'll score more than 34 in doing so.

Then the Indian top order will have the rest of the day to negotiate.

To quote Little orphan Annie - the sun'll come out tomorrow....might not be quite as tough.

Does the sun ever shine in Hampshire? Judging by the remaining cloudy forecast, even if it doesn't rain anymore the locals must all end up with rickets or osteoporosis at this rate...

We ran over them in low scoring tests 18 months ago. It's not crazy to think we could do it trailing by 100 with 8 wickets in hand.

That said I was very much of the mind that we should knock off the target or at least getting to 200 before upping the run rate at all.

The CDG decision is the key. I though he would be better with the ball but don’t trust his batting. Still roll the dice…maybe good to have one player who hits through the line and rides his luck. If he fiddles around I don’t think he has the technique on this pitch.

Yep, the silver lining of being bowled out today is India will have to bat when the ball is doing plenty. If Kohli and Kane are struggling, and I mean genuinely struggling to score runs despite getting set, then that's a pretty fair indicator that conditions are extremely difficult.

Kohli and Rahane showed that there was something there for the batsmen, however the conditions are somewhat changing.

A few decisions for India, as well.

With the new ball just 8 overs away, do they continue with the seamers immediately after lunch or give the spinners a short crack?

They've bowled 23 overs between them - will be 31 by the time the new ball gets here - if they take it.
