Hastings steal the ball; that looked totally illegal, but the ref didn't see it.
It's full time: Napier Boys 8 - Hastings Boys 16
There really isn't much between these teams. I'd say Napier Boys' setpiece is better and their forwards look stronger. Their ball handling is worse though (many knock-ons). Flanders' decisions and Stephenson's boot (11 points) won this game for Hastings.

If I'd had to pick an Under-18 team from this game, I would have too many loosies. There's much talent in both backrows.
I'd probably pick Hastings' LH prop Lolofie and Napier's TH prop Brown. Not sure about the hookers.
For the locks, I'd definitely pick Ennor, if only for his size. Don't know about the other one.
From the backs, I'd probably pick Hastings' 9, 10, 12 and 13 and Napier's 13 (moving him to the left wing) and 14. I'd put Napier's Moleli at fullback. -

@nepia Always home team first!
That makes the win even sweeter.

@stargazer the hstop200 website mentions Max Ratcliffe (year 12) as being one of the schoolboys to watch over the next year. How did he get on?
They also named a mid-year Hurricanes squad which included the below:
- Salesa Seumagafagai (St Patrick’s College, Town)
- Leon Tuiloma (Rathkeale College)
- Siale Lauaki (St Patrick’s College, Town)
- Max Briant (Gisborne BHS)
- Maea Tema-Schimt (Scots College)
- Tino Savea (Lindisfarne College)
- Cooper Flanders (Hastings BHS)
- Gilgal Malasia (Napier BHS)
- Bradley Campbell (St John’s College, Hastings)
- Curtis Heaphy (Palmerston North BHS)
- Tony Solomona (St Patrick’s College, Silverstream)
- Anaru Paenga Morgan (St Paul’s Collegiate)
- Shaun O’Leary (Whanganui Collegiate)
- Kere Penitito (St John’s College, Hastings)
- Afa Moleli (Napier BHS)
- Vernon Bason (Feilding HS) Year 12
- Konradd Newland (Whanganui Collegiate) Year 12
- Nathaniel Hauiti (Gisborne BHS)
- AJ Malili Malo-Lauano (Feilding HS)
- Max Ratcliffe (Napier BHS) Year 12
- Keanu Kotuhi (St Patrick’s College, Silverstream)

@canes4life That website uses player rating methods that is just as suspect as the Rugbypass ratings (not sure they use the same methods). I attach no value whatsover to the hstop ratings or predictions. He's also very secretive about it, which makes it even more dodgy.
As you may have read in my comments on the Napier v Hastings Boys game, both teams had very good backrows. Ratcliffe is one of them, but I don't think he's the best of that lot. I don't know the years all these players are in; maybe he's the only year 12 of these loosies.
Plenty of talent coming through in all top 4 four Hawke's Bay schools; yes, even St John's as a few great talents. Some have already played regularly for the HB Academy team. I just hope we can keep the best of them in the province.

@canes4life When did the Hammetuer take up journalism? 1 HBHS player 🤣

I predict Cooper Flanders will have a choice of provinces that will want to sign him. He's just outstanding; again in this game.
I really hope he's not tempted by the bigger money of richer unions and will stay in Hawke's Bay.
Hastings is leading 12 - 0.
Napier is trailing 3 - 6.
-
Another try to Hastings. This one was scored by right wing Alex Dickey.
Hastings is leading 17 - 0.
Napier still trailing 3 - 6, just as Tim Slabbekoorn misses an easy penalty kick at goal. Don't know why Moleli isn't kicking them.
Hmm, the score on screen now says 3 - 9. I don't know when that happened.
-
Aone Lolofie scores an excellent try for Hastings. They're smashing Gisborne. Admittedly, Gisborne have looked the weakest of all Super 8 schools thus far, but this is really a show of strength from Hastings!
HT: Hastings BHS 22 - 0 Gisborne BHS
They give the half time score of 14 - 3 to Tauranga Boys, but that's definetely not correct. Moleli scored a try for Napier, so they should be on at least 8 points.
