@higgins I'd say it will be written into their contract with the Canes Collective Agreement with NZR.

I say bollocks to the need to have a rest. T. Plumtree has had 1 game for the Blues and C. Delaney 0 games for the Hurricanes. To me that is not being overworked in the slightest degree.

@higgins do you get annual leave in your job?

These guys pretty much can't take their leave between November and now.

They are employed and I'd say, as mentioned above it is written into their collective agreements that they get time off between the two seasons, when applicable.

Like those of us who sit in offices, work on building sites and do what ever else, these guys earn time off during the year.

@higgins I’m not arguing whether or not they need a rest, I’m just saying it’s probably written into their contract. However O’Reilly has trained with the Canes for most of the year and he’s been selected so who knows.

@canes4life Maybe they’ve picked him so he stays away from the Argentinian Marching Powder.

So the half time score in the preseason game between Harbour and Auckland was 17 - 5 to Harbour. Has anyone seen the full time score?

Have some time off on holiday with the missus in the South Island the week of that trial.

She's now being treated to a day trip to Timaru.

    Lucky woman.

I saw Taleni Seu at my local supermarket so obviously back from Japan. If he intends to play in the NPC he'd be a great option for Waikato at lock. 🙂

@bovidae Seu wasn't on the list of players that are leaving the club (published on 20 May), so he'd have to have negotiated a late return to Japan (like Tiaan Falcon).

The Southland Stags have been dealt yet another injury blow with outside back Josh Moorby expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Stags coach Dale MacLeod confirmed Moorby broke a bone in his hand playing club rugby in Dunedin on Saturday.

Moorby's broken hand is the latest in a horror run for MacLeod as he builds towards provincial season.

Matt Whaanga has a broken cheekbone, Mike McKee a serious knee injury, Nico Manaena a serious ankle injury, while Jay Renton has a lengthy recovery time ahead after dislocating his shoulder.

Earlier the Stags lost prop Siate Tokolahi who has decided to head to France to take up a contract with Pau.

To make the situation a little more difficult for the Stags fellow outside back Rory van Vugt is also likely to miss the start of the NPC because of his commitments playing in the American Major League Rugby competition.

van Vugt was initially expected to be back for the start of the NPC season but Covid pushed back the start of the MLR competition.

The MLR final is to be played on July 25 and there will also be a two-week quarantine period when van Vugt returns to New Zealand.

MacLeod admits it has been the toughest period he has ever experienced, in terms of putting together a roster. ...

Any one know much about Scotts College old boy Sage Shaw-Tait? He's a midfielder in the Blues and Auckland U20 teams now.
