Results- Thursday, 3 June 2021
Otago Premier Schools (Premiership)
- Southland Boys 25 - 19 Otago Boys (round 2 game of Wed 19 May 2021 that was postponed)
That was apparently a decade long wait for the SBHS win.

I can't confirm. Just what I heard from the grapevine down that way.

they beat us in Dunners in 2016

SBHS made the Top 4 a few years back so must have beaten OBHS to get there.
think they went to the top 4 in 2016 and 2017

Results Mid-Week fixtures
Central North Island
Round 5- Rathkeale College 6 - 17 Whanganui Collegiate
Super 8
Round 1- Hamilton BHS 36 -29 New Plymouth BHS
- Rotorua BHS 16 - 15 Tauranga Boys
I didn't see more than the last 5 minutes, but that last game was a nailbiter at the end. A minute or so before full time, Tauranga slotted a penalty goal, making it 13 - 15 to them. The ref was already looking at his watch, but Rotorua got to restart the game. Two phases later, the ref awarded a penalty to Rotorua. The 10 kicked it well and Rotorua won 16 - 15. The team and their supporters celebrated as if they'd won the Top Four. -
@stargazer A Moascar Cup challenge game though so I'm sure RBHS was happy.
Hamilton vs New Plymouth was a strange game. Hamilton led 17-0 in short time and then clocked off with poor handling giving NPBHS field position. New Plymouth scored 22 unanswered points either side of HT before Hamilton scored 2 tries to seal victory. NPBHS scored right on FT which led to a humorous exchange between the students from both schools. The NPBHS students were lined up behind the goal line where they scored and they all celebrated. Then all the HBHS students pointed at the scoreboard.

@kiwiwomble Woah so did you go to school with Richie McCaw?
-
@african-monkey i did, not good mates or anything but same class, top bloke

@stargazer said in 2021 School rugby:
@nepia Possibly, although they lost 3 - 15 to St Pat's Silverstream last week.
Oh. That does give it some perspective - who loses to Wellington teams these days? 😉

An exciting end to the televised Manurewa-Westlake game.
:::
Manurewa scored a last minute converted try to win 28-26 at home.
:::
Westlake has a large SA contingent in their team. I expect any future SA-born AB comes from the North Shore.
The Manurewa no.8 (Morunga) is a beast so I hope he is part of the Chiefs U18s later in the year. Westlake completely dominated possession so he didn't get his hands on the ball enough.

The North Shore has been extremely slack at providing us chicken running ABs. I would have expected we'd have had a whole bunch yet we've had none. We've been poorly served throughout the country by them. The closest two chicken runners to the ABs seem to be Goosen and Ricitelli and they're miles away.
I'm not counting Rawlinson as he came here as an adult to play rugby.
