Monday 16/7: 8 weeks from the HM now.

30min very hilly run at a strong pace, went well except some asshole on the side of the road called me a fat fluffybunny. Nice. Got another hilly run on Wednesday then two longer flatter runs to end the week.

Running in Dunedin in July is easy, it's so cold that you don't feel any pain at all. Ice kinda sucks though.

MR: You're on.

    There will be photos...

Tuesday: Day off

Wednesday: 6km hill run (up a reasonably steep 1km hill and back down three times). This was a struggle. Probably because I have no power in my calves at all, I feel like I'm just going nowhere on sustained uphills. Took about 37mins.

Thankfully the HM course is reasonably flat with one big hill towards the end.

Let us know what you're time ends up being Barnya. My next half marathon is on 19/8/07 and I'm hoping to crack 1:40.

I do a lunchtime run of 8 km's four times a week. 2 of those are running and 2 are just for staying fit. I'm knocking it out in 31-33 mins at present. On the weekends I'm trying to a gut buster every Saturday if I get enough time.

    Oops forgot to update!

Thursday - rest day
Friday - flat, half hour run. 6km
Saturday - rest day
Sunday - half hour hilly run
Meant to run today but not feeling well so will do one when I get back to Dunedin tomorrow instead.

Freg 8km is 30mins, that's nuts! I'll be happy to break two hours in this HM.

My knees are alright and there are no aches and pains thus far, which is a minor miracle given that it is WAY TOO FUCKING COLD TO RUN!! argh

Nick, I just map my runs on Google Earth.

I used it a couple of times when mapping out my current runs. Seems fairly accurate, but I have no way of double checking at the moment.

I measured out one of my bike routes using the online one and a physical map (good boy scout that I am). I might have to get hold of my mate's GPS for a third check... :nta

    Well done, Plodder. 👏

A friend of mine finished fifth in the open women's marathon, finishing in under 3h 30m. But don't let that hold you back from boozing up large. 😁

good shit mate. Half marathons are pricks of things, I've never really understood the whole buzz of running for fun.
I did the half marathon at outward bound and it rates up there with the hardest things I've ever done. I have a huge amount of respect for anyone who can run that sort of distance

Running 22km certainly makes you realise how much you take things like cars and bicycles for granted.

Not to mention how stupid people are for running 22km when a bike or car is available
Congratulations Barnya.

The first one is by far the hardest one, and I'm sure there were people wearing some pretty expensive shoes still finishing long after you'd crossed the line and set sail for the pub.
