Allister Coetzee appointed as new Springbok coach
-

heard a snippet of him on the radio saying he is excited by the prospect of getting to the 50% transformation threshold by 2019?

I suspect he wouldn't say that about Johan Ackermann who was also in the running.
-

I wouldn't.

Look at some comments:

"I am expecting us to score 1 try a season from here on. So exciting."

"Worst nightmare confirmed."

"Worst kept secret ever. Sigh I had hoped for Johan Ackerman!! Now we have boring Stormers rugby for the next few years. I really hope he proves me wrong!!"

"Imagine how we feel. As soon as we get rid of the guy..."

His Stormers side had some great backs, not that you would have known it from the turgid rugby they played.

Actually, i quite liked them for a while, they were brutal and effective up front, but they always underachieved because they couldn't score enough points.

Be interesting to see how he goes this year given the resources at his disposal
-

That is a seriously light coaching resume for an assistant coach of one of the powerhouses of world rugby.

I assume that he is a transformation appointment, but even so, he must have some incriminating photos or something ...
-

Ordinarily I hate it when people cast aspersions on appointments due to race or gender, but in this case it is just hard to fathom there could be any other reason for it.

Not too bothered with Stick's appointment. He must have done an alright job to do what he did with the EP U19 side. He can't go any worse then Ricardo Loubscher, and Allister Coetzee is a backline coach as well so not too stressed.

Can't say I was too happy about Coetzee's appointment either but who knows, maybe he realises it's time we develop. Maybe he realises that we are being left behind and actually need to play some rugby while entertaining crowds.

And while I'm not very enthusiastic about transformation because of the better players being left out unfairly, from what the guys in our 7s side have been doing I think they can offer a new dimension to Springbok rugby that the Afrikaans players just haven't managed up until now. Guys like Justin Geduld and Cheslin Kolbe may be small, but they play the ball better then any of the guys in the Springbok side last season. -

Welcome to a transformed Bok Squad. With the recent dominance of NZ rugby, the already small pool of countries that are able to run with the AB's has gotten even smaller (Aus, Eng?) Transformation will come to affect your enjoyment of a AB v Bok test match shortly.
