@mariner4life it’s a shame you couldn’t get Blanchfield. Good reliable shooter to play off Oliver and Scotty. Added that mid-range game too. He’s a Qld boy too.

and where is he? frikken Perth

Last 5 years he’s been at United, Kings, Hawks and now Perth.

Growing up a Saints fan, Boagni and Mc were godlike. Nice to see them in there

The Franklin District where I grew up has now got a basketball franchise in the NZ NBL. They had their first home game last night. The current coach and some other guys have put in some hard work to get where they are. They broke away from the Counties Manukau association which was very Manukau/South Auckland centric. I might go to my first pro basketball game the next time I am up visiting my mum.

I didn't know that. What are they called and where are they based?

Pukekohe. They are based out of the rec centre down the road from the rugby stadium. The Franklin Bulls. Franklin is the name of the region and was the name of the council that got split in two when the Auckland Super City was set up.

Man that was a sweet win against the Wildcats.

We had the Webster bros coming off the bench and whilst they didn’t score big they made some crucial plays. Tai with a big time block on Cotton was nice.

Randolph came up clutch and hit the go ahead basket with 0.5 seconds remaining.

There’s nothing sweeter in sport than the Breakers beating the Wildcats.

this season just doesn't fucking end.

Already 26 games in. And there is still a month to go.

Having every team play in Melbourne for a month killed the whole comp in my opinion. It's just a write off of a season, with the constant changes to the schedule, Cairns played like 7 games at home in 3 weeks, then disappeared for 6 weeks. The Breakers have barely been home. It's a bit shit.

Just hurry up and have Perth beat Melbourne in the GF.

Yeah it's been shit and I haven't had the enthusiasm to watch many games Breakers games live.

The Breakers haven't been in NZ since before Christmas. First they were meant to play in Melbourne, then it was Hobart and now their "home" games are in Launceston. While they are scheduled to have 7 games in 17 days back in NZ later this month it probably won't matter unless they win out.

Just bought tickets to see them when they get home. They deserve some good home crowds

Former Boomers coach and three-time NBL title winner Andrej Lemanis will leave his post at Brisbane at the end of the season to coach in Japan.

Lemanis, who coached the Boomers for seven years and won three NBL crowns with the New Zealand Breakers, announced on Wednesday the 2021 season would be his last after five years at the Bullets.

Lemanis hasn't had the success at the Bullets he would have been hoping for.

put a fucking Broom through the Taipans, they are shit. Just a fucked roster that obviously struck gold at the same time last year. Because those same players are straight trash now

And with Cam Oliver averaging double digits in the NBA already, he ain't coming back.

Burn the joint down, start again. Keep Machado and Dufelmier and shoot literally everybody else.

@mariner4life as a rookie 18yo, Mohave King has shown something. He has the same problem as a lot of kids do these days though, it’s either a 3 or a dunk. No mid-range game which is a shame.

I could convince my mate Aaron Grabau to come out of retirement 😎

At least Grabau would play defense

King drifts out of games far too often, and his shooting is actually pretty poor most nights. Just a kid though, so willing to cut some slack

In other news, the Breakers are finally back in Auckland. Only playing for pride and their home fans now.

@canefan It's good that the Breakers are taking the show on the road so hopefully the locals turn up in numbers.

The Breakers enjoy some home cooking and survive a 4th Q meltdown to beat the Kings. Delany was on fire.

went to the Bunnings shed last night for what i dearly hope is the last time ever (the only benefit was the catering company is waaaay better than at the Convention Centre). Brisbane were in town. I don't feel anything for the Bullets except for the fact that Nathan Sobey is in the conversation for the biggest flog in the competition. Didn't expect a win either

And of course the Taipans obliged by losing despite having untold chances to actually win the game.

Machado was good last night. King has a breakout type game, but as pointed out by an intelligent observer above, 3s and dunks, needs a reliable mid-range jumpshot. Nate continued his late season career revival.

Venky Jois is in the conversation for the worst Taipan ever. And that is a fucking crowded field. What a complete fucking spud that guy is. Check out his wide-open, take your time, 3-point attempt to draw the game. It is mariner4life-esque, and i fucking suck at basketball.
Kenny and Djeric are out of the rotation, which is good because they are spuds.

The problem is, and it's one we face every couple of years, is that there are no building blocks moving forward. We have Scotty for another year unless he finds a way out. But nearly every other player is absolutely tradeable. Well, not sure anyone would take them. Seriously, the bench rotation last night wouldn't win the QBL.

Guys who showed promise and development 12 months ago, have not only not come on this year, have very visibly regressed. We are basically having to burn the joint down and start again

Also, the sideline reporter lady was a spunk.
