Went to cotes v Massey at Harvey Wright today. Pretty disjointed and even first half but Cotes showed their strength and pulled away in second half. Massey don’t look too bad despite their results to date. Expecting them to move up the table once they get a chance to play some of the easier teams.
By all accounts, Shore have picked up some new signings this year who have fit in well and they are looking stronger than last year where they didn’t miss out by much.
Looks a good tight completion ahead

@taniwharugby you can see all team sheets for all grades here, just select the correct date and click on the team you’re after.

Well Southern had a draw 22 all with Spotswood.
Boys were playing in New Plymouth, and was a bit busy, so I went instead over to Kaponga, just to watch some real country rugby. Really enjoyed it, the rugby was not of a great standard, and Kaponga got thrashed, probably close to 100-7 or something, but was good to see the attitudes of players etc. Kaponga's population is about 315 or something, so there not a huge amount of players, especially when they also have a soccer club that was playing next field. They were getting knocked around and had a few injuries, but no worries, none of the non contesting scrum shit or anything, just someone else moved into front row, and after they ran out of players, they had about 4 reserves, one of the opposition team (Normanby ) just grabbed a jersey and went back on for them. Went into clubrooms for a beer after, and the team and coach weren't gutted with the hiding, they won last week and coach was happy with what they had to do to fix things. Captains speech was gold mentiong to Normanby boys geez some of those tackle f***en felt hard, but c'mon boys stop pissing around and get to training ! Would suggest all try and get to these 'village' games, as I said in a place of 312 or so people they still had a good rowdy crowd of 40-50 people, and bloody great clubrooms etc! -

@ploughboy In 2019, Brodie Retallick played for his club Central Hawke's Bay (for the first time in 9 years). Just about half the region was there and his team mates were stoked to have him. An experience they will never forget, and he said it was awesome, too!

went along to watch Kamo play Ngati HIne Moerewa/United Kawa Kawa.
UKK got off to a flyer, and lead 14-3 late in the 1st spell but Kamo hit back just before the break to trail 8-14 and ended up taking a good win 25-14
UKK has avery handy side, with a number of former rep players running around.
JUstin Davies was strong with ball in hand, Warren Dunn was best back on the park for the 1st 40, and the UKK 9, Kane Vlaardingerbroeks has a bloody nice pass on it!
THe entire UKK front row was very busy, and lead by Aorangi Stokes who just never gives up!
THey looked wel coached and up for it, but once Kamo turned the screws, they lost thier way a bit and unable to get enough good ball.
For Kamo, Nikau GRaham was full of running and a constant threat there, shame his line kicking rivals Dan Hawkins for distance, missed touch a couple of times too, if he wants to move up a level, which his running game looks capable of, he will need to get his kicking game sorted.
Setefano Funaki has also looked strong with ball in hand and in contact last 2 weeks, but he aint a lock.
Seleti Tuungafasi also looked good these last 2 weeks, strong runner, and hit a sweet sweet pass off the 9 at a primo angle and was barely touched as he ran 10m for a try (although at the pace he was moving, no one woulda stopped him)
Brody Lam on the wing for Kamo looks good, but he has seen f-all ball.
while still undefeated, Kamo just look to lack a bit of finishing power for me right now, but the 2nd half today was the best I have seen them play this season.
Surprising result today was Western Sharks rolling a strong Mid Northern side at home.
OBM still lead the way on points diff from Kamo

A few Hurricanes playing Wellington club rugby this week. I assume most of these players won't be going to Sydney.
Lolagi Visinia (Wainuiomata)
Vince Aso (Petone)
Pouri Rakete-Stones (Norths)
Jonathan Taumatiene (Marist St Pats)
Pepesani Patafilo, Orbyn Leger (Tawa) -
TR Jnr keen to do a roadie tomorrow too and watch most of his old team play Dargaville U16s and then stay on to watch the Kamo Prems play Western Sharks, a match where I have a feeling Kamo will pick up thier 1st loss of the season.

@bones Had a beer in the Axemen's Isherwood Lounge with the venerable Mr. Quinn last night after the Axemen narrowly failed to defeat Wainuiomata. Paying the penalty for not attempting two very kickable penalties in the last 15 minutes and losing 14 - 16. Vaea Fifita donned the WFC jersey for the first time since 2016 playing the full eighty minutes and was Mt. Everest heights above everyone else on the field in terms of prety much everything worthwhile measurable. Even managed to make a couple of effective tackles but did miss one when a huge guy Wainui had playing on the wing managed to avoid his covering corner-flagging attempt to shove him into touch Incidentally his last three appearances for the Axemen have all been against Wainui, one being a seven point win and the other two being one and two point losses.

Sorry mate unfortunately our Pressies team play at the same time so can’t make it, you can lock in the
3/7 as our Pressies team is coming your way to play the axemen so I’ll definitely have a beer with you then. -

Had a big day off watching planned but a website posted a wrong time for a game so we only watched the U16s game.
A few large lads at that level, again the Kamo U16s alot smaller.
Watched half the reserves game then headed home before the prems, but as I suspected Kamo suffered thier first loss.
Looking at the scoring they were down 21-8 with about 20 to go and then I saw 21-15, so with the final score of 21-20 they must have had a conversion to steal it.
OBM sit atop still unbeaten, then Kamo, Mid Northern then the Sharks round out the top 4.

Radio reports a large skirmish between spectators at Wellington College during the College Old Boys-University v Marist-St Pats game after OBU scored a try right on full time to win 20 - 18. Not the first time spectators from the MSP club have been involved in skirmishes recently. No doubt more details will emerge over the next short while.
