    @bovidae Cheers.
Wish I knew many years ago that all you needed to do to get residency fast tracked was play for the Black Caps. My wife might have been good enough to make the team at the time too (a reflection on the cricket team not my wife's cricketing ability).

Colin is sporting a great Billy Ray Cyrus-like mullet.

Some good news I only just picked up on is that Captain Kane's IPL team is bottom of the table. That should presumably release him from those commitments early?

I genuinely wonder how the NZers , and English and Indians, will get out of India and to England. How many options will be available by the time IPL ends?

Where will they have to do quarantine?

Logistical nightmare, some administrators will be earning their money.

@rapido Yeah that was the reason for moving WTC to South Hampton. Has it's own hotel and training grounds so the players can be in their own bubble and still practice. The England matches aren't so easy.

How many IPL players are in our test team apart from Kane, Trent, Kyle, maybe Santner? I haven't been watching it.

Yes, but things have changed since they made those arrangements.

Countries, including UK and NZ, are stopping flights from India, and dis-allowing non-citizens travelling from India even when transiting through 3rd countries.

Airlines, are pausing the flights. UAE stopped flights from India, Qatar still open at the moment.

It can still be done, but, there will be a lot of furious paddling under the water going on at the moment to line this up.

A political exception would have to be made if they do quarantine in UK (at Southampton) and at very least it won't be with rest of squad. It may have to be in a hotel in Doha, while they still can.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56806103

India has been added to a “red list” of countries from which most travel to the UK is banned, over fears of a new Covid variant, the health secretary has said.

From 04:00 BST on Friday 23 April, most people who have travelled from India in the last 10 days will be refused entry.

British or Irish passport holders, or people with UK residence rights, will be allowed in but must quarantine in a government-approved hotel for 10 days.

There's 3 weeks to go to end of round robin, a month to end of finals. Time for things to change, better, worse (or same).

(Jamieson is other NZ test player with IPL contract, Matye CdG as well as fringe player, but I dunno - he's been injured, I also don't watch it).

South Hampton would be South South Peterborough I think.

    The Chris Lynn solution ....

Australia suspends flights from India; Chris Lynn hopes for post-IPL charter home

"I texted back that as Cricket Australia make 10% of every IPL contract, was there a chance we could spend that money this year on a charter flight once the tournament is over?" Lynn told News Corp media.

When asked specifically about the cricketers in India, Morrison said there would not be any preferential treatment if repatriation flights resumed later in May. The group stage of the IPL is due to finish on May 23 with the final on May 30.

"This wasn't part of an Australian tour," he said. "They're under their own resources. And they'll be using those resources to, I'm sure, to see them return to Australia in accordance with their own arrangements."

Not quite sure why I did that. A flurry of rushed typing whilst trying to fix two computers and sort out a house.

There's no physical barrier though mate. All that's needed is someone to sign a document on a piece of paper. That's the extent and remedy of this natural disaster.

Just use the one that exonerated Dominic Cummings for his girlfriend breach of lockdown last year.

Besides, these guys are "bubbled" anyway.

There literally is a physical barrier.

Unlike Cummings, these players (and your wife during lockdown , if I am not mixing up posters) can't just jump in their car and damn the consequences.

The thing that overcomes the physical barrier is being squeezed to one transit route. They'll need money and influence to squeeze through that in a timely manner. They'll need good luck with that that in the bureaucratic nightmare that is India when most of the rich dual citizens in a nation of 1.3 billion are trying to do the same thing.

@rapido of the little I know about India, I think that the chance that India can't get their players and 6 of the opposition to the first ever test final is pretty slim.

One plane and some beaurocratic favours.

Probably could find a plane for kohli et al rather than forfeit the final😉

All the vitual pints in the world to you if covid19 stops India playing in a cricket world final🙂

I'm sure they will find a way for the final to go ahead. Or at absolute worse, a convenient delay and/or change of venue.

What will be quite interesting is to see how long it takes Adam Zampa and co to get back to Australia now...

Chris Lynn's plane will be along any time...

It's inevitable that the BCCI will get the best fifteen Indian test players to England, but the best NZ players will be stuck there until October.

It's fucking laughable that a player such as Lynn would go to a risky country such as India, make huge money for a few weeks playing fucking cricket and then suggest it's anyone else's responsibilty to get him home. What a fucking retard.

I think he was joking as Cricket Australia clip the ticket for 10 percent. Doesn't leave as much ... tax, agent, Cricket Aus; probably paying over half the headline figure to other people

You can't be a dual citizen of anywhere if you hold an Indian passport.

OCI for all practical purposes is the same thing no?
