Those articles, and the one for players 21-30, were a fun read. So many familiar names from the past.

It will be interesting to see who is in the top 10 but imports like Kenny McFadden, Ronnie Joyner and Kerry Boagni should be in there, along with multiple title winners like Pero Cameron and Dylan Boucher. Not forgetting NZ hoops legends such as Stan Hill and Glen Denham.

    @bovidae
I remember Ronnie Joyner being almost a one man team, as only basketball can provide.
For Ponsonby and then for North Shore (I think).

As a youngster he seemed pretty incredible, like the best player ever, but I think I recall some critiscism as being seflish etc, detrimental. Way above my mental abilities at the time to judge whether that was fair or no.

Joyner played for a number of NBL teams. I used to watch him live when he played for the Waikato Warriors. Home games out at CCNZ. He definitely had a score-first mentality.

Watching Izayah Mauriohohoo-Leafa absolutely kill it has been pretty cool this season.

Close to a classic stitch up in Perth, Breakers overcome the odds and win against the Wildcats.

Randolph and Iverson were huge. Abercrombie came up with a massive steal on Cotton at the end. Finn who has been on fire the last 5 games was very quiet. Corey hit a couple of huge shots.

    Nothing sweeter!

    Hate Perth.

Edit: Iverson has been huge as of late. I went to the Bullets game here and he was a monster on the glass. Just took it to them on both ends. No one could put a body on him.

Yeah I’ve been to a number of Phoenix games this season and he plays hard on D, doesn’t try to do too much on offence but takes the shot when it’s there.

@act-crusader A good result after the heartbreak of the OT loss last week.

It’s a huge result and the boys are getting to go home to NZ.

Being down double figures in Perth and then going on a huge run to get back in it is damn hard.

The crowd (and refs) against you. It’s feral over there.

    i fucking hate Perth

As if the Taipans season doesn't suck enough, Cam Oliver has to go home because his wife is having pregnancy problems. Easily our MVP, and as good as anyone in the comp. Shane Heal can fuck up with his constant "he just doesn't look interested" as he sticks up another double-double with a handful of blocks for good measure.

@mariner4life Oliver has been playing the house down and the more Mike Kelly plays him and Nate together, good things will happen.

Heal still thinks it’s 1993 and everyone that isn’t out there looking to chest bump their opponent, doesn’t “look interested”.

    Heal is a fucking idiot.

Oliver and Nate together last week against Adelaide was scary good. i've never seen Nate play that well in terms of assists. The standard defense on Jawai is to double team as soon as he gets the ball, last week he was taking that double team and dishing to Cam for another big dunk.

People like to say Cairns is an import short. I don't think that's the case. What we really need is a high quality Australian player. We don't get many of those. Martin Cattalini might be the last big name transfer we attracted.

@mariner4life it’s a shame you couldn’t get Blanchfield. Good reliable shooter to play off Oliver and Scotty. Added that mid-range game too. He’s a Qld boy too.

The Franklin District where I grew up has now got a basketball franchise in the NZ NBL. They had their first home game last night. The current coach and some other guys have put in some hard work to get where they are. They broke away from the Counties Manukau association which was very Manukau/South Auckland centric. I might go to my first pro basketball game the next time I am up visiting my mum.

I didn't know that. What are they called and where are they based?
