@bones selection was part of the problem last year too for Ioane wasn't it? Mauger kept playing him at 12 for quite a while.
The year prior (2019) was when he got an extended run at 10.
To start with, but not in SRA if I recall correctly. He got stronger and stronger at ten in SRA (although think he was injured at the start) as did Hunt when moved to fullback.
Yeah. He had 3/4 games At 12 pre COVID but back to 10 and hunt to 15 for SRA
Bugger, had my hopes up a little, really think it’s our midfield that’s lacking, smith and hunt had good ball...and then it fell apart
Obviously a shocker from hunt with the tee too, really feel for him, can really shake the confidence
I thought ioane looked good when he came on, looks to run, looked for gaps on the outside shoulder
Very little critique for any of the forwards evans HD a huge one all three loosies were hitting it up all day, hinemo always seemed to have the ball in the first half, lineouts were good, even when coltman came on, don’t think he missed one

Fuck that's awful. Why does Hunt keep chopping in when he's got an outside half break with players outside? Absolute shocker today.
ALB has been class. That's the game. Hunt you hungus egg.
Yeah he's a great player, just not happening tonight
Nor half his games last year. That last carry where he ignored the big hole and CGB outside and cut back in to run straight into a tackle is unforgivable.
I disagree i think he's been good most season.
But yeah he was awful tonightGood and great are different words bro 😁
A great player playing good. What's wrong wif dat...
I'd just prefer he at least stuck to good all of the time instead of occasionally great and occasionally calamitous. He makes DMac look extremely steady.
On Ioane, last season he showed great improvement with consistent selection, which he hasn't allowed the coaches to do this season. If he's put the bullshit behind him I'm confident he can get back to the level he was last year.
True true
Ioane has an x-factor which the ABs ought to be looking to exploit. Hope he can put his schoolboy antics behind him.

Not much in it. Hunt's missed kicks/DMac sideline conversion the official difference. TMO omission decisive and led to wrong result.
Thought Clan forwards started to get on top once benches emptied.
Chiefs midfield had much more finesse.
Everything said and done in the crunch Chiefs found a way to get the result.

According to the stats, Ioane beat 4 defenders, which was the team high (Frizzell, Smith, Gregory all 3) and had more runs than anyone bar Frizzell.
He was top with metres run at 88 for both teams.
Highlanders were not very effective with thier ball, many of thier attack numbers are down on the Chiefs.

Pretty bloody good for 25 mins plus extra time

Didn't get to watch the game, went to a gig instead, tried to follow the action by reading the thread after the fact.
So, my only comment on the match is...
FFS @Chris - are all your punctuation mark keys broken on your keyboard? At least, please, get your comma button fixed - it's a hard fucking read sometimes.NO just fat fingers and to many JDs

Ioane was very good. Covered good ground, ran straight and had no defensive lapses.

From what I've read from players themselves, they like it because they all want to win.
Can't disagree with that, but extra time is likely to solve that on it's own. I think golden point is the issue, it changes the way the game has to be played. Can see both sides, but next score wins isn't actually that great to watch. I assume that they wanted to guarantee results due to the reduced number of matches and that is why it was done. A draw isn't great for either team with the points allocation.
I didn't really have a dog in either of the fights last weekend but would have just preferred normal rugby for a bit longer to get a result.
If that didn't get one then it's a boundary countback.

I mostly agree.
Territory is so crucial that teams will just want to kick-off or exit, so I think some of the points made in that article are pretty fair. There is also the point that ref calls become more and more important, plus there is the captain's challenge (which should have been used by that Muppet Blackwell on the weekend) which will get used every time a point gets scored.
We did have one drop goal to win it, which was pretty cool, and I like it that our players will face those types of one mistake loses the game, one clutch play wins the game experiences.

Actually, this is a persuasive point. It goes to how do you win games when physically and mentally wrung out, and you need a penalty or DG to get over the opposition. Like T20 batting, if you practice it, you get better at it.
I don't like it, but this is a good outcome

ive always liked the idea of recognising the fact both teams couldn't be separated over 80mins
the NHL gives you a point if you lose in OT

Dont they get that anymore for losing by 7 or less?

Not what I mean, you could never have been in front and get that, something for actually being even after the fully standard length of a game, no difference between teams at 80mins
