@mn5 Yes. Don't think you quite got the GOM gist there. They will be called "outs", which isn't actually a word, or wasn't, in cricket. They will still be recorded as wickets because the people who can count, and work with base 6, will be doing the scoring (fortunately) and are capable of dealing with two syllables.

Yeah. The player was run out, given out, adjudged out (although apparently LBW is too hard to understand)
My boy ( 11 this weekend ) will have to come to terms with LBW next season ( they don’t have them until a certain age ) so why can’t the rest of the world grasp it ?

@MN5 I have some faith that your boy probably already gets it, even if it wasn't used in his previous matches. There's really only 3 things to consider (4 if you include not playing a shot). An edge doesn't count.
Why haven't they gone the whole hog and made 4s and 6s, 5s and 10s? Maths is clearly an issue for most casual cricket watchers.
Will ties be decided by number of boundaries scored too?

To be honest it’s the “when you’re out you’re out” that I’m worried about ( currently they bat partnerships and lose runs each time they get dismissed ). His first Golden duck will be a sad time.
I’m all for gradual rules......he started playing cricket at nine and it’s great to ease kids gently into the full game and how it is played but all this clap trap and changes for the sake of adults ? Fuck off.

To simplify the game away from jargon and non-decimals. I count 4 new jargon now introduced in 6 months, a 5th professional version of the sport has been introduced.
Simple as.
Money well spent. I'm sure it's better value than the zero spend of simply not exasperating Dads away from watching as sick of gimmicks and noise. I mean whoever's heard of a kid getting into a sport because their dad was watching it one day when they were young.

Is this madness just happening in the 100 overs or whatever the hell they’re calling it, or are they trying to bring it in across all formats?
If it’s the former I’ll give zero fucks because I won’t be watching or following.
If it’s the latter, I’m offended and hurt at the uneducated’s lack of understanding or willingness to learn. It’s an outrage and shows no respect to the sacrifice our ancestors made in inventing rules of the gentleman’s game. It’s just so damaging and hurtful. I demand a public apology from someone, anyone will do, and for sports ministers from across the globe to condemn this unacceptable and intolerable behaviour. I also demand a police investigation and an independent review into the organisation who rubber stamped these changes, to make sure they are diverse enough to be a fair representation of the world we live in today. Someone please get a Stuff ‘reporter’ to call me so I can share my outrage with the world?

Kids love dinosaurs. I thought that was the target market (kids, not dinosaurs although there may be just as many of them actually watching)?
I suppose rugby has 7s, 10s, and 15s. Could throw in the 13s, sort of as well.
However this is cricket, and this is definitely not cricket (as the saying goes chaps).

T20 already exists. Kids fucking love it.
T20 already exists. Most mums don't. Changing a couple of things here and there to make it "easier" won't change that.
Sometimes i think these things come about because inflated administrative departments need to justify their jobs.
Also the constant chasing of the "growth" unicorn has fucked so many sports.

@mariner4life That's exactly the point isn't it - we already have it. Reducing it by another 20 balls and changing some words isn't going to make it any better. I think that I have the maths correct there for those that can't cope with multiples of 6.
It's bloody stupid. I'm going to join a marketing dept, one full of people that don't watch sport like this lot obviously don't, and suggest that cricket should be played as 6 aside...sorry that will have to be 10.

The quicker they learn what an absolute fluffybunny of a game cricket is, the better for their mortal soul. It doesn't matter what level you play, or what your form is like, or how much time you spent in the nets, some days you are going to turn up, bowl 10 overs 0-88, and get a 3rd ball duck, and drop a catch. And your dad won't even be there to watch.
Cricket hates you, and you need to learn that as quickly as possible.

Auckland cricket grades that my son has been playing in.
U12 was 9 ball grace, U13 was 6 (with LBW). Suggest you just check with your local organisation/club. Info for Auckland here (depends on the comp, of course)

Hmmmmm interesting. As I understand it it’s basically full adult rules as of October/November. In the last few games myself and the co coaches really focussed on getting them playing forward defensive strokes in readiness for next season which can’t be a bad thing.
It’s pretty tenuous to assume I ever played one of these in my playing days, but then again we live in a world where Luke Ronchi became a Black Caps batting coach so anything is possible.

I’m no expert but I’d say over a billion Indians contribute a fair bit to a game that ain’t broke and doesn’t need fixing.
How many of that ‘billion’ have started watching cricket because of the emergence of IPL. I’d hazard a guess at the odd hundred million or so...
