One drawback I find is that it isn't easy to channel surf when streaming.

and it shoudl be - picture in picture should be a 'thing'; delayed start and jumping around should be a piece fo cake - and a nice piece of bluetooth hardware like a remote control to control the streaming would be mint.

I'm sure it'll come ...we just have to wait

First thing they have to get right is not cutting off your feed when the 'scheduled program finish' hits the mark despite the game going overtime.

I use the app on my ipad for SkySportNow and cast to the TV. If their schedule has a new program starting at say 5pm, when you reach 5pm the feed stops and you have to re-start it.
Obviously if the game continues into the post-match stuff it isn't an issue but if it is one without much spare slot it does. You have to start the next program to continue.

ah, OK. I've been casting from Android and from my PC

why not email them to complain that the Apple App's not working properly?

hard to argue with the sport they get on free to air, i live in melbourne but follow the swans, planned an evening around getting home to watch the game...but they were showing a different game, didn't realise they regionilise the games too. so in sydney they show the swans crows game on 7 but in melbourne was two melbourne teams

So the funniest thing with my rugby watching is that my Apple TV is listed as Sky NZ on my Samsung TV. I have no idea why this is happening. Both my Apple TV and the actual TV were bought in Australia.

Because it gives me something to get grumpy about here.

my main problem with streaming is:

watching two games on two channels is now a massive pain in the ass, and that's just on one platform

If i am watching the AFL and i want to flick to the league on Kayo it's back back back back select select select select buffering.....

for the evening games, especialy on a Friday night, i have actually started watching on FTA, as it is significantly easier.

If i was watching the rugby as well on Stan...

Also the internet at my house is fucking shit.

The most I ever need to do is flick between Stan and Kayo so I just run one on the TV and one on the Apple TV so all I need to do is flick between them.

Do you not use the split screen on Kayo? You can have have one covering most of the tv with a little box in the corner - then you can swap which of those two is the main screen easily without having to go back, back, back - this is actually one of the decent features of the shitty Kayo platform.

    @mariner4life All of that.
Throw in multiple subscriptions and cost.
Can't see where you are rewinding / fast forwarding to (want to see a contentious decision).

Two benefits - can watch on computer, tablet, whatever, and don't have to remember to actually record things.

That is not a net win for me.

The monetary savings makes it all worth it for me. Plus Apple TV is pretty good at FF and RW once you figure out how to use the remote properly (only took me about a year of using it due to male stubbornness to not look it up)

I've done 3 years at least. Trying for 4. I wouldn't be grumpy if you told me the trick though. Certainly not looking it up.

I actually use a universal remote so will have to dig out the Apple one if I am going to lose face over this.

As for savings, I think that you guys have a different situation in Aus. I still have Sky for the rugby, for reasons already mentioned, but now have to pay extra to get the cricket, F1, etc.
