Finally the result of an inquiry into a particularly nasty piece of play is published. Wonder what is required to get a life ban?

@mariner4life And here is a follow up report which includes mention of past instances of MSP indiscretions and questions if they are doing anything to prevent recurrences

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/300219757/rugby-player-left-with-severe-injuries-after-attack-by-marist-st-pats-players

The details of the attack on Petone’s Ridge Studd are contained in a Wellington Rugby Football Union disciplinary committee report, released this week, after a hearing chaired by Wellington lawyer Gerard Dewar.
“We are not satisfied that MSP team members have been adequately held to account within their club or that their club has properly dealt with those participating in this disgraceful event,” he wrote in the report.
He noted that Marist St Pats’ colts team had been involved in an “unruly brawl” in a game in 2019.

Just thought I would put up a post to remind everyone about club rugby. I know it not trendy to follow it these days as much as it was, but moving back home and too a small town it reminds me where a lot of the heart of NZ rugby lies. Taranaki actually kicked off club rugby on Good Friday, so I was able to go to Stratford and enjoy them playing Clifton. Was just brilliant sitting in a packed stand and having a chat to people I didn't know about the game etc, as well as watch game full of players just playing becuase they love the game. And were a good number of cockies there in gumboots etc . Only trouble was too many heading into clubrooms after game seemed it best to head home.
And then Saturday in Hawera ,Southern (which is now my club played Tukapa and were enjoying 25th year anniversary. Once again it was a great crowd ,and bloody enjoyable time watching games, and this time while having a quiet beer and great rugby chat with a few gents I had never met before. I know we get a few that sneer at what they call park rugby etc, but I would suggest that it is still what any rugby man should try and do more often (I know some can't for their own reasons) and you just may remember why the game is so bloody good.
What is the point of the post? Just that this is a rugby bored and the theme of posts is to often negative about players/coaches etc, and I just thought why not have one about some of the bloody good things and why ours is the best game around!
I actually posted this elsewhere, but just I feeling real good about game so..............

Bit lower scoring this week, with Moerewa picking up thier 1st win since promotion (i think) at end of 2019

Didnt get to any of these games this week as I went to watch Mid Western jubilee match v Vikings (which had many northland names from years gone by)

    And to add
New Plymouth HSOB Rugby Football & Sports Club (Snr): Premier 54 vs 0 Spotswood United Rugby & Sports Club (inc): Premier
2/4/2021 2:45pm Stratford Eltham Rugby & Sports Club : Premier 26 vs 24 Clifton Rugby & Sports Club (Senior): Clifton Prems
2/4/2021 2:45pm Coastal Rugby & Sports Club: Premier 24 vs 22 Inglewood United Rugby Football Club: Premier
3/4/2021 2:45pm Southern Rugby Club (Senior): Premier 39 vs 30 Tukapa Rugby & Sports Club (Senior): Premier

NPOB beating Spotswood by so much is a worry, we play them here at Southern next week.

Another reason too all get out and watch club stuff, let them know we care.

Two articles about Wellington club rugby.

In this article, you can find out which school leavers will be playing for which club. There are some players from other provinces.

And in this article, an overview of club rugby players who have moved clubs, have retired or are out with injury, have gone to other provinces, or have arrived from other provinces. Interesting from an NPC point of view (some of these players have already been mentioned in other threads):

    Fritz Rayasi (gone to Northland)
    Losi Filipo (gone to BoP)
    Tolu Fahamokioa (gone to Waikato)
Regan Verney (returns from injury, will play for OBU)
    Kaliopasi Uluilakepa (gone to Northland)

If there are similar articles from other provinces, please, post them in this thread.

So Mrs Gunner casually mentioned to me the other day that there was a new guy at her work called Fritz and he’s going to play for Northland....

Could have told me waaay sooner and my club could have head hunted him 🤣
