@barbarian Petaia at 14 is a much scarier proposition than Petaia at 13
I sort of, from an outsiders perspective, agree with Nick with regards to Hooper. All effort all the time, but, in a big game against good sides i don't think he's actually all that effective. He Eales medals are a bit of a red herring i think. I honestly believe he can be upgraded on.

Seriously Nick, that side is questionable in the extreme. You start off OK in the front row but it goes downhill from there. Timani has played one game off the bench for the Force, and now he's a starting test player?
Rodda fucked off for money and now has come crawling back for Twiggybucks.
So I've just arrested and executed both your Timani and Hooper arguments.
LSL in a Wallaby jersey is going to cost us bigtime.

Well, no, not really. I'd love to be principled and leave Rodda out but the cupboard at lock is bare and he's proven test quality.
And I see M4L's point about Hooper, I'm not wedded to the bloke. But as much as Hardwick and McReight look decent, they aren't there yet. Hooper is the incumbent and he holds the jersey until someone takes it from him. The idea of leaving him out of the 23 completely is bizarre.

If he's trying one-handed flick passes all the time, it doesn't matter where he is.

Timani has 18 Tests BTW. Short memories.

Well you certainly need a long memory to remember his last test - it was in 2013.
But luckily for you I do have a long memory, and I can distinctly remember big Sita consistently underperforming at test level, save for one dead rubber Bledisloe in Wellington.
So no, despite 18 tests he does not get the label of 'proven test quality'.
What posisble case does he have to play test footy again?

He's not Caydern Neville.

There are another half dozen league wingers as good as him on less than half what they are going to pay.
Why don't they just pay half and put a year into training them up in Union..
Wouldn't be surprised if Vunivalu ends up being an even better convert. Shame there are no transfer fees really. Get fuck all for teaching these blokes how to play union.

Onto more important matters: our club is running a charity day tomorrow as our major preseason fixture. Raising money for Neuroblastoma Australia. It is a right fluffybunny of a cancer, typically taking very young children - the day is named after one of our players' little girls who succumbed at 22 months
Schedule is here:
I'll be playing 20 minutes of Third Grade (vs Mosman) and then have to ref the other 2 x 20 minute periods, followed by reffing the two women's 7s games after that, probably. Hopefully by the time the main event rolls around, I've got a beer in one hand and a smoked brisket roll in t'other.
If you are in Sydney, google maps for "Renegades Rugby" to find out how to get there. Kicking off 11.30AM. It's a charity day so bring your credit card, ya mug
If you can't get there and you're bored of a Saturday, it will be livestreamed via CluchTV which I think has no regional restrictions: https://www.cluch.tv/page/605aac8e1de1c4001bc4ffcb
And you can try the auction to get the best thing in pink jerseys since some of those French club sides had a crack:
Thanks for listening.

Thank god you're just playing a game. When I started reading that I thought you were about to offer up charity nude calendars to us.
I will certainly see if I can catch some of the game online..
